With parts dating back to the 13th century, this 16th-century inn is now a small country pub offering free Wi-Fi, 2 bars, a separate restaurant and comfortable accommodation.
In the heart of the small, charming village of Gayton, the Crown Inn offers 4 comfortable and homely rooms, furnished in a traditional cottage style. Every room has tea/coffee making facilities and a Freeview TV.
Rich in original character and traditional charm, parts of the building are said to date back to between 1216 and 1262, when the building was constructed to house the stonemason and the workers who built the church opposite. There are low original wooden beams in a few places.
The Crown Inn is dog friendly and well-behaved dogs are welcome in the rooms and throughout the pub, apart from in the restaurant.

The Crown Inn - Bilder

We'd spent the afternoon sightseeing in King's Lynn but none of
the hotels we found advertised in kl sounded as interesting or as good
value as the Crown, so decided to drive the 7 miles out of kl and enjoy
the lovely rural scenery along the way. The Crown Inn is a lovely
historic country inn, just as described. The staff were helpful &
the room was lovely; spotlessly clean with quality antique furniture.
The towels were thick & fluffy. There were even teddy bears on the
shelf! The shar. alle vurderinger »
This is probably the best pub in East Anglia. Brilliant atmosphere,
fantastic food, intelligent, helpful staff and sensible prices. Oh --
and dog-friendly, too. It's hugely popular with locals -- and no
wonder. This place is buzzing. If all pubs were like this the trade
wouldn't be in such a bad state. It is open all day every day,
serving drinks and food. I think I've already mentioned the food,
but it's so good I'll mention it again. For example, the beef is
rare breed from a local farm, matu.
Beautiful quaint local pub. Great experience for my partner who has never been on UK soil. Yummy ales and warm friendly locals and staff. Dog friendly. Amazing carvery and breakfast. Nice and relax atmosphere. Safe parking. Big shared bathroom that you dont have to wait for. Great room facilities of hairdryer, kettle, tea and coffee, tv, towels and wardbobe.
It can not be repeated enough, this is exactly how you dream that a Inn
in the countryside should be. A traditional Inn with 4 rooms, restaurant
area and an incredibly pleasant pub . Very friendly staff and guests.
There is a good walking map you can lend in the pub for trips around the
village of Gayton and beyond . Absolutely a place we will return to.
A really old and that rarity of a traditional village Inn with great character and no attempt to modernise when it sells itself for what it is. Great value for money and that is what will hopefully mean the place will continue to prosper when so many have closed. Keep it simple, keep traditional - loved it.
A traditional country inn, serving tasty food and excellent real ales. Good parking, clean and welcoming. Staff most accommodating.
Centrally placed for exploring the north Norfolk coast. Not overlooked, in a beautiful rural setting. Although we do not have a dog, it was refreshing to see they are welcome.
- Rural setting, set back from the road opposite the village church and a barn
- An old inn; its interior character preserved, enhanced by objects
- Pleasant staff
- Good food (dinner and breakfact)
- Simple, clean rooms, bathroom
- Easy access to wi-fi.
A fantastic, friendly atmosphere in a traditional country pup. The staff and locals are extremely welcoming and helpful, both to our family and dog. As we stayed over Easter the entertainment in the pup was great. A great stay and we will be back soon.
Everything, we found the village social club which was fantastic(special thanks to Molly), on our return we had missed dinner but the people at the crown made is sandwiches, great place & people.
very good value for money, good shower facilities in the double room (en suite), excellent pub, brilliant food, (especially the carvery), good real ales. good atmosphere. friendly , helpfull staff.
I found the staff very friendly and helpfull. I was really looked after. A nice traditional inn in a lovely country village with an excellent and varied menu of food and beverages.
Lovely large traditional room - very comfortable with flat screen TV and comfortable little chair to watch it. Hospitality tray with biscuits! Good cooked breakfast and coffee.
Very friendly, helpful staff & 'locals' !
Very clean, comfy beds
Good food - carvery + 'a la carte' menu every evening.
Reasonably priced !
Plenty of parking space.
The staff were especially helpful and friendly, the food superb (you must try the carvery) and accomodation very high standard of cleanliness yet very comfortable.

Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Able to book in at rather short notice. Very friendly and helpful staff. The inn has great character and was quiet even on a Saturday night. Not expensive.
nice country feel quiet and very homely and welcoming, issue with shower now resolved they have fitted one. would stay again as this was our second visit.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The Crown is a beautiful old fashioned properly run pub, with lovely gardens.
Wonderful old inn, full of character. Lovely friendly staff. Great food. Comfy beds. - What more do you need?.

Friendly staff
As a traditional pub should be.
The food and the staff were first class.
very friendly and good for our dog.
Clean, friendly old fashioned pub.
A proper pub - warm cost bedrpom.
The Crown was friendly and the locals, were chatty in the bar, the food was excellent including breakfast, the staff were also very friendly, what attracted us to the pub was its age and its history. i was totally relaxed and enjoyed my stay 100%.
Location and pub atmosphere as well as ability to take our dogs with us
Nothing outstanding but our needs were met.
Very friendly staff. Excellent mixed grill and breakfast. A real old English inn.Excellent value.
The quirky nature of the place. Friendly staff and good wholesome food. Breakfast was delicious.
Friendly atmosphere & staff.
Lovely pub in a great location.
very polite and friendly.
Service and food.
most things.
Great atmosphere, great food, great value.... What's not to like?
Perhaps a little padding & a "mind your head" sign over
the low bedroom doorway would help, but that's part of the
character!
Wifi was a little slow, but... hey... it was free!!.
I can't fault the place.
There was nothing not to like!.
Nothing. It was all good.
Nothing.
the air con system was 'very' noisy according to my partner, and kept her awake most of the night (didn't bother me), also, the stairs are fairly steep, so not really suitable for a disabled or elderly person, however, it is a very old building, so it is to be expected really.
There was no ensuite. Though a minor point given the clean warm bathroom available.
Shared bathroom.
The very noisey plumbing system - a 'Sanilav' System !!
Yuck !
In our room, the teamaking tray was high up on a chest of drawers -but the kettle had to be placed on the floor to reach a power point - VERY DANGEROUS !.
A bit noisy at night but nothing you cant sleep through.
The bathroom had a noisy macerator which was not pointed out on the booking page. The room needs another chair and perhaps a hook or two for clothes. No wardrobe.
nothing really,.
No ensuite facilities, but we knew this when we booked.
Nothing!!!!.
Limited choice breakfast: could include offer of e.g. scrambled egg. Shared bathroom floor seemed to need a more frequent clean.
Stayed two nights, Disappointed with the food.
Evening meal on first night ,steak with salad and chips. Salad consisted of 50% dry lettuce and uncooked mushrooms. Breakfast on1st morning was good quality but swimming in grease. Gave it a miss on second morning and just had tea and toast.
Food not as good as a year ago Wine and food prices higher than before
Glasses in bar grubby Bedroom too cold.
what's not to like?.
low doorways.
curtain pole fell down throught the night.
Bedroom a bit small but very large bathroom.
Nothing!.
The bathroom plumbing needed some small attention.
Nothing.
We fully appreciate the owner's need to ensure staff are effective in their jobs but we found it disappointing and uncomfortable when the owner reprimanded a member of her staff in public.
As i was on business and i had work to do at night, there wasn't a chair in the room to sit at to carry out my work.
Nothing.
On reflection it was probably a bit to far out for us, £30 in a taxi round trip to Kings Lynn. and apart from the pub there was little else to do unless you are a walker or into nature, but i have no complaints about staying at the Crown it was well worth it.
Quantity of food was off-putting; menu extensive but portions too big;
rear entrance and entry to breakfast room could do with a clean/lick of paint
no chair in our room which would have been useful
water system too noisy.
Found the shower a real challenge. Could have been a bit cleaner.
The bedroom was a touch small and some door ways a bit low. Although in some ways this added to the charm.
Staff not as friendly or helpful as the website suggested.
Bathroom facilities were noisy.
Poor heating. Auto door closure would have made great difference.
room cleanliness. room cold on arrival.
