  The history: Agatha Christie wrote her [Murder on the Orient Express] at this hotel. There is a small exhibition area on the fourth floor about this and other historic moments. The elevator from 1895 can still run (though not always in use). They sell postcards and other souvenirs about the hotel at the front desk. Really a piece of history! The Breakfast - A classic hotel, which I've used twice before, in 1995 & 2005, before its recent refurbishment. It's now three times the price, but the grandeur is no longer faded, it's now a true 5-star place. And I'm delighted to say that the refurb hasn't spoilt its character at all, as this is a hotel with more character and history than most! Staff were great, we got a room upgrade, and an extra hour extended checkout wasn't a problem. If we return to Istanbul, it'll be the Pera Palas for us!

  From the moment we arrived the time we spent in this hotel was wonderful. The staff were extremely attentive, room was excellent, food was good. We were there for a specific purpose in that part of the city, but there is plenty to keep you occupied in the area and the Bosphorus only a short taxi ride away is full of activity and wonderful restaura... hva folk sier » nts. - The staff is very vriendly and effective, especially during the morning with breakfest etc. Further the beautiful rooms with modern and elegant comfort and design .
