I recently stayed at the Yakut Hotel from July 27 to August 2, 2013, and I would absolutely stay there again. The hotel was in a perfect location, just a 10–15 minute walk northeast to the hippodrome and Obelisk of Theodosius, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Topkapı Palace. The Grand Bazaar was about a 10-minute walk northwest, and it was even easy to walk to the Galata Bridge and ferry terminals on the northern edge of the old city. Mehmet Yakut and his family were amazingly hospitable .
alle vurderinger » I stayed in the hotel with my parents for 8 nights and it was just perfect: a few minutes walk away from the blue mosque and hagia sophia, nice hotel manager and helper, clean rooms, very quiet during the night, big bathrooms, confortable beds, good breakfast,... If you want to visit Istanbul, stay in a good and inexpensive hotel with all the comfort you need and near the most important sightseeings - the yakut hotel is the perfect choice!. Mehmet is possibly the nicest Hotelier I have ever met and I highly recommend staying here. My wife fell ill and he spent the afternoon driving us to the hospital and walking around with us trying to find the correct department... The hotel is very clean and warm (we stayed in December when Istanbul starts getting rather cold). The only other staff at the time was also called Mehmet who was also very kind and funny. How can i say....., this hotel has everything you need to make you feel good: New rooms with bathroom , clean and larger than average. fantastic location, just two steps from the Blue Mosque and points of interest. the 'family atmosphere' s, courtesy of the staff and the hospitality of the owner Mehmet, will immerge you straight into Turkish culture and beauty of Istanbul. Note that the hotel is modernising and was fitting aircons in other rooms. There was nothing I didn't like. I loved staying at Yakut Hotel. Nothing to mention. Nothing really, even the daily chanting at 5 am from nearby mosques became normal background noise. Beds a little bit too firm. The toilet was odd - didn't have any water to flush at one point, but the staff said 'no problem' and later on it worked. Hard to find (taxi driver had to call the hotel to locate it). Hard to find initially, but once location is known easy to find. Location is a bit hard to find but once you get it, it was ok. It is difficult to find. The room was like the picture despite the entry looking a bit dodgy. The air con needed to go lower - but we forgot to ask if he could fix it. Nothing. The hotel is hard to find at first and located down a hill which makes the arrival and departure with suitcases pretty hard. I will not recommand this hotel for eldery people or people with a family. The bed was really hard and not so comfortable. The room was not warm enough during our stay. The heating system did not seem to work. I find the price pretty expensive for the quality and esthetic of the hotel. A bit hard to find, but airport shuttle bus finally got there. Sheets and pillowcases were dirty on arrival and needed changing. Bathroom had extreme sewage smells from open and leaky plumbing, and hotel response was to put urinal disinfectant blocks in the handbasin, which only made the problem worse.
