Great location, in the heart of Sultanahmet. The staff were terrific, it had a real personal touch; I didn't have any problems in Istanbul but if I had had, I know they would have helped. They were very courteous and friendly and had all sorts of snippets of advice. Good breakfast, comfortable room and bed, great shower. Breakfast started at 8, but when I checked out at 5am, the night clerk still put together breakfast for me. Coffee 24/7, but no coffee-making facilities in room. My stay in .
alle vurderinger » We booked for 3 nights and stayed 7. The rooms were fresh, clean, spacious and well appointed. The location was ideal for us being 5 minutes to the Blue Moaque, 10 minutes from the tram line and 15 minutes from the Grand Bazzar. The team there were helpful and only too pleased to bok tours,recommend restaurants, sights and generally enlighten us on Turrkish culture. Breakfast was included and was generous. We thouroughly recommend this hotel and will return if we travel to Istanbul again. This hotel is being managed by its owner Mehmed. He and his team were very hospitable, courteous and attentive. They assisted us in any tiny need. The rooms were new, clean and very comfortable, the breakfast was hearty. After all in the last day just couple hours before our departure we were granted a great compliment from Mehmed (wine&fruit). I would strongly recommend this hotel for staying in Sultan Ahmet neighborhood. Mehmed and his staff were exceptionally accommodating, assisting with all requests I threw at them, and offering help constantly. Their breakfast was lightning fast with an enormous selection of accoutrements to go with my eggs. And I really enjoyed the lobby self service area with 24 hour coffee, tea, water, and snacks. The new hotel was kept immaculately clean and my room was nicely appointed and comfortable. The Sultan Mehmed Hotel is a very short walk to some of Istanbul's most important and interesting sites. The staff is friendly, courteous and very helpful: they accommodate special needs and know where the best restaurants are. If you are looking for a clean, modern hotel with a friendly staff, this is the place. Even better, the room rates are very reasonable for a property this close to the Old City. The only negative is that the noise insulating could have been better implemented in the rooms. I heard both the elevator and comings/goings of the neighbors and I would also hear when my neighbor would shower or flush the toilet. It wasn't horrible, more of an annoyance. But I would definitely stay here again, most especially at the price I paid. Breakfast options are a bit limited, especially if you're there for 5+ days. Everything is a version of egg (omelette, scrambled etc). A few other options would have been nice. No complaints. Nothing. If our travels bring us back to Istanbul we will most certainly be staying with Mehmed. Room size not very big but ok. nothing!. Bedside lamp is not bright enough for reading, breakfast selection is somewhat limited with no meat products or muzli available. Lack of lounge area (being rectified as er write!!).
