  The Hotel Altair in Santiago de Compostela is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. Understated, elegant, unfussy, very polite and ethusiastic staff, great breakfast, very quiet, comfortable and perfectly situated near the centre of the old town. Maybe 100 metres from the Cathedral. They avoid all the standard hotel cliches and have managed... hva folk sier » to create the perfect small city-central hotel. - Everything, the staff were excellent, very helpful in giving advice on local restaurants etc. all spoke excellent English. This old building has been very well restored. Breakfast was extra but well worth the price, although not a buffet you could ask for extra without incurring any further cost. would recommend this Hotel to anyone thinking of staying in Santiago De Compostela
