The staff was excellent. This is a small run operation but they were helpful and made us feel very welcome. Room is quite simple with a funny little shower off the kitchen (and the toilet behind that!) but it was clean, comfortable, quiet, and in a great location. Great for a couple looking for a quiet location to relax and be out of the hustle and bustle of downtown Amsterdam. This was a great area to stay to check out the trendy Jordaan, nine streets, and night club district.

our stay here as it was right next to the flower markets so it was easy
to find our way there (once we already knew where it was) and it

There were so many thoughtful touches in our room. We had a choice of coffees in our room, cookies, water, and a light breakfast if we wanted to eat there. We didn't, because the breakfast downstairs was so varied and in a cozy breakfast room with interesting people to visit. It was like being a favorite guest in someone's home.

This was our first trip to Amsterdam and certainly won't be our last, due mainly to the excellent service and kindness of Chris and David at the Tulip of Amsterdam. (in fact, we made a second reservation on our last day! I think that says it all!) Our room was beautifully decorated, clean and well equipped as was the rest of this lovely old refurbished building. Fantastic location just round the corner from Centraal Station, was easy to find - its basically above the Resin coffeeshop. Beds were alright for a short stay, good enough kitchen facilities for us to cook up a couple of very tasty meals. Decent size bathroom with a good shower. Rudy and Pia are wonderful hosts. I was only staying for one night en route to Africa, but they were very accommodating in every way. The Garden Room is spacious and comfortable. They thoughtfully provide breakfast in the room so that guests can have it at whatever time is best. Also, the location is excellent--very walkable to many if not most of Amsterdam's major places of interest. One note: the two flights of stairs are steep, so that may be something to consider.
