  We stayed two nights in September 2013 at the Traders Hotel in Penang. The hotel is part of the Shangri-la group and used to be called the Shangri-la Inn. It’s not a brand new property but from what we could tell it is still in a very well-maintained condition. We chose Traders as it was close to the bus terminal and shops which was very convenient. We never used taxis as the bus system there is exceelent so it's easy to get around the main sites by bus at very cheap prices. Even though the terminal was just next door, the rooms are very quiet and getting a great night sleep was easy. The room was modern, well maintained and very clean. Everything was perfect. A great spot in the city of Georgetown and lots of different options at the one hotel for room types from conventional rooms to 2 bed apartments.   Staff was very friendly and helpful. You feel like in 5 star hotel, altough the price was only like 3 star hotel. Room was nice and big. We asked if we could check out a bit later and they said it was ok, this was a really nice thing to us! There was many nice places to eat near the hotel. - the location is conveniant
