  My wife and I stayed with my elderly mother in the same room. K's House is a chain of hostels in Japan, and I recommend it highly. The only downside is that as a hostel, the rooms are small. But once you know that, the arrangements are great, and the rooms are clean. Right at the front, no shoes are allowed in the building. K's House in Takayama holds a dinner party once a month and I was really lucky to be there on that one day in a month.
