The location of the hotel was a huge plus. It was directly across the street from the jr Nikko train station, and a short walk from the Nikko Tobu station. For those without a car, you can catch a bus to the onsens/lake area, or to the temples (although walking to the temples from the hotel only took approximately 25-30 minutes). Additionally, I thought the hotel was extremely clean and the rooms had a sleek, modern feel to them. The mattress was firm. I enjoyed the breakfast which you had a ch.
alle vurderinger » This hotel is the perfect place to stay if you are arriving and departing Nikko by rail - It is right across the road from the JR station, and only a 2-3 minute walk from the other station as well. We found this very convenient as it meant we didn't have to go far with our luggage, but it's good to be aware that it's about 2-2.5km from the main centre of Nikko and the world heritage sites, so it will be either a reasonable walk or a bus ride from the hotel to anywhere you want to go. There also. - Hotel is very well located, opposite the JR Nikko train station and less than 5 minutes walk from the Tobu Nikko station. - Rooms are reasonably large by Japanese standards, with decent ensuite bathroom, and are well sound-proofed and clean. - Breakfast is very good, catering to both Japanese and Western tastes and is served buffet style. - Onsen is open until midnight and great for relaxing after a long day of hiking. - Staff speak good English and are very helpful and friendly. We had a large and comfortable room with big bed and an area with small table and two chairs. Staff were helpful and the onsen was also good. The hotel is right opposite the station which is very convenient. We had one day visiting the temples and one in the national park (Lake Chueznji and Kegon Falls) which was good. Nikko was a very nice, relaxing place to visit although perhaps not top of our Japan itinerary. Located directly across the road from the jr station (though a bit of a hike to local shrines, etc). Helpful, English-speaking front desk staff. Large quiet rooms. Very comfortable bed. Larger bathroom (by Japanese hotel standards). Dinner buffet choice at restaurant was an excellent mix of local and western cuisine. Opening windows, very handy for travellers who dislike hot rooms. Close to jr station, spacious room, clean, comfortable, free internet in lobby. Did not use the spa facility. I notice from other user comments that those who complain about hotel personnel's command of English are generally not English speakers themselves. I am and have had no problems making myself understood. Hotel is fully renovated with all the standard amenities you expect from a good hotel. Clean, convenient, friendly staff (limited English), nice breakfast buffet, good location (walking distance from train station, like 100 feet, also very close to bus stop to take you to all attractions and sites). However, on Thursday the onsen is scheduled closed, so if that is important, be forewarned. I found I needed to use my Japanese phrase book more than in other cities I have visited in Japan, however when visiting a foreign country, I do not expect them to speak English (so again, this was not a big deal to me). some more printed information in English would be very helpful especially about how to navigate the place by bus (we found this extremely confusing). - Quite expensive, but this is to be expected in Japan. - Wifi is only in reception area, so they should extend this to the entire hotel (including bedrooms) - All TV channels are in Japanese, i.e. no foreign channels (which seems to be the norm in Japan). No wifi in room, but it was available in the lobby as well as there being two computers available for use. Expensive restaurants and breakfast, with limited options in the surrounding area. Hotel was slightly expensive in comparison to others we stayed in, perhaps due to lack of competition in the area. No hotel wi-fi available in rooms, only intermittent reception available for my private wi-fi. No ability to regulate room temperature, hotel setting way too hot for my liking. The two restaurants connected to the hotel are overpriced. There are not many restaurants in the immediate vicinity, you need to go up Nikko's main street. It is a bit of a one horse town, so after you've visited the sites don't look for entertainment in the evening!. Rooms were small, wired internet only (wiFi in the lobby). Restaurant not terrific in range but freshly cooked at least. nothing of note. The beds were a bit hard for western tastes, but not bad. The "Western" restaurant is large but was empty. It had strong smell of oil which I didn't like. The menu is "Japanese Western". The Japanese Restaurant has only set menus starting from over 5,000 Yen!. We were unable to control the thermostat so turned it off and opened the window a crack. King bed was very hard. Breakfast buffet had a relatively poor Japanese selection. (The Western selection was good, but we prefer a good Japanese breakfast). No WiFi in rooms (lobby only). No complaint. Very small rooms. Not clear about the meal plan. You must reserve meals in advance. No one told us. Choices for restaurants, for breakfast especially, are limited. The staff did go out of their way to make us happy. The Wifi was down until after 9 pm and the available PC wasn't working either. This was really difficult for us as we had to plan our rail connections. In fairness they did treat it as a priority to fix it and rang our room to update us. Limited TV channel choices. Quite expensive. Dining room situation,later discussed with manager and received written apology, but we feel staff did not understand that the procedures in dining room are not acceptable. There was no wifi in the guest rooms. food - poor selection. limited meal choices in hotel restaurant. The village is dead after the tourists head back to Tokyo at 5pm. The wardrobe in the room is too small. Need to bring own towel from room to onsen. japanese dinner was pretentious! i will not reccomand it. wi fi only in the lobby. Wifi is only in the lobby - but that's quite normal in Japan even in 2013. The food options for the hotel weren't great and were a bit expensive for the cost. No wifi in room as had been advertised on letsbookhotel.com. high price. expensive. A little down at the heals- a basic 4 walls and a bed.
