EXTREMELY helpful and friendly staff! The manager speaks fairly good English which was a bliss in a town where English isn't widely spoken and helped us to arrange and sort out many things - a trip, laundry, train tickets, which one of the staff bought for us at the train station and delivered back to the hotel, taxi etc. She was even so kind to call the airline to enquire about our flight. The old town of Lijiang was not as quiet and original as all the travelbooks suggest. In fact there is nothing original except maybe the street layout. The streets themselves contain not much more then (souvenir)shops, restaurants, bars, hotels and atm machines. And extremely many tourists (mainly Chinese). The tourist information shops (all with "Tourist Information" in big letters on the front) did not understand any English. It is frustrated to get to the place dragging your bunch of luggage since no shuttle bus is allowed in the old city,and the hotel is at least 20 minutes' walk from the front gate. If you get up early, you probably won't have the breakfast included in the room rent. Breakfast sometimes !? AND when we had ..really good... No suggestion about tourism opportunities In fact really nothing ......... they were late in mornings. No breakfast despite it being included Staff difficult to find.
