The location was very good, close to the south gate.
Staff was nice, and very helpfull.
The room was in the basement; actually this is not really a problem, since the room has a window to the corridor (during the night the light in the corridor is red, giving the filling of city night lights). The corridor looks like a typical chinese street, with roofs and everything.

The location is excellent -- one can walk to most of the sites within old city walls comfortably (e.g., the walk to the Southern entrance to the city wall is around 30 minutes). A great backpacker haven (a welcoming bar area with wifi serving beer on tap, hookahs, and western food) that also provides the comforts and cleanliness of a no frills budget hotel. Location is very central within 15 minutes walking distance to the Bell Tower, subway station, and Muslim Quarter. The staff helped plan our Xi'an visit, while a lot of travel info is also posted in the common areas by the staff previous guests.

The ideal location to the bell and drum towers, easy access to airport shuttle, English speaking staff, an unexpected treasure is Xi'an wish we had stayed longer..a city full of life and culture. Would recommend the visit not just to see the Terracotta Warriors this place offers more than that. Very enjoyable stay.
