This is one of the cheapest locations I stayed in NY, where even the YMCA (where they treat you like a dog) charges 119 USD per night. For less than half that price this is a perfectly located, clean and efficient hostel with friendly staff. Only 2 blocks from Penn station and the air train to JFK!. The location was great & quiet. (Did not hear street traffic, but of course heard the neighbors.) The staff were very friendly & helpful. Got help with my suitcase up/ down the narrow stairs. I got a towel & a clean one when asked for it.

The location was good and the price for staying in the south end of midtown Manhattan was really good. It was really quiet in that location too. The dorm rooms only had 3 beds, meaning that they weren't overcrowded. Stayed here just one night and everything was fine. Best location, quite easy to get in from JFK. Clean and friendly. The combination of a mixed dorm and a super-small shower is not practical - but at least they have enough clothes-hangers in the shower. The wifi didn't work (3rd floor), they said it'll be fixed this week ... Things people should be aware of before booking: Shower & wc are very tiny, nowhere to keep clothes in shower. Narrow staircase- no elevator. Didn't see the common area with tv that the Norwegian page said it had. shared toilet & shower--looked clean enough but didn't use shower. The room was really hot at night, but there is AC. The stairs are a little scary to walk up and down. There was only about a foot or so of space to walk between each floor. The beds and pillows weren't comfortable either. Good for a night or 2, but no more. Wi-fi works time to time. Bathrooms could be better. Not bad but could use some improvement. No tv or towels to wash up and i wasn't informed of roommate til i arrived . pretty small room and coat hook fell off the wall when you put towels on it, there wasn't really anywhere else to hang towels/ coats. Terrible pillows and mattresses. Room very hot even with AC. for 6 days never changed the bed linen. They didn't clean the toilets very often and it was hard to sleep with all the noise outside the window. Shower and toilets were only adequate but did the job. Wifi didnt work. The shower room was really small. The reception was downstairs and the stairs were narrow. Room was too small sized Cramped room size No drawers/closet Generally below average room. - so small bathroom and toilet - old device - no elevator - narrow stairs. Very bad internet connectivity. No drinking water and towels provided. Very small room with a double bed inside. Bed linens are not very clean. Bad wifi on fourth floor. Shared and very small bathroom without shampo and shower gel. The mattress was really hard, and I had to kill a bug in the shower. There was no a Wi-fi in the room. There were mice. Room was realy plain, no courtains, dirty walls, sheets. The toilet and a shower would to be restored . Bed was dirty and a cockroach in bathroom. washroom too small and no towels. No elevator. We had ants and mice in our room, when we told the staff, all they did was giving us a mouse trap. Our bed broke, again, we told the staff, they did nothing, so we had to sleep in a broken bed for 4 nights. The hostel does not offer any cooking possibilities except a microwave, so you always have to eat out. Internet worked bad, noisy( but no so much that you won't sleep), cold in rooms, dirty badlinen, small shower room, poorly furnished rooms. Poor cleaning. not comfy. The guy at the check in was awfully impolite. I wanted to pay by credit card as the possibility was stated at the reservation voucher, however he said they don't except cards. And then he gave me a receipt where it was written that my card was declined... No wifi signal in room, bathroom and toilet small and not clean, cannot open windows, no lift, expensive. The shared bathrooms are terrible, and the mattresses very lumpy. wifi didin't work for me, since the first night. absolutely no activities to do in the hostel. no space to cook some food. other guest were like ghost, it's impossible to socialize with them. It was dirty, no internet connection in the room, small shower, the toilet was defect and no elevator... I don't recommend this hostel. Staff was rude and unfriendly. Worst I ever expected! Disaster!. The whole building smelled bad. The room was not clean. There was no internet in my room despite their website said there is internet everywhere. Also, I had to stay with a guy in 2 bed rooms. I understand there are full reservation at that night, and they did't even tried. The staff in the front was not nice. I've traveled many developing countries and used hostels and guesthouses, but this is the worst hostel ever. I don't think they have any concept of "service" They say that wi-fi is free but rooms are not accessible by wifi. You have to go out and stay at the stairs to surf the net. They dont even accept debit cards. They want cash. They don't allow you to print your boarding pass from their computer. I wouldnt stay here the second time. All requests to make things easier are answered with a 'NO!'.
