Situated in the Nottinghamshire village of Sutton-on-Trent, this 200-year-old inn offers pub accommodation just off the A1. It serves home-cooked food and has a private garden to relax in. The Lord Nelson's renovated bar area still retains some original features. Guests can enjoy fine wine and real ale beside a traditional open fire, and there is a quiz night on Thursdays. Each room has a TV and facilities for making tea and coffee. There is free Wi-Fi available throughout the building, and space for free private parking on site. It is just a 35-minute drive from the inn to the historic city of Lincoln. Guests can visit the old cathedral, and the medieval Bishop’s Palace.

A courtyard room which was spacious, very clean and a lovely big bathroom which included a bath as well as a shower. We had booked a double room only that morning and a lady very kindly rung us to say there was a problem with the heating so would a twin room be alright, which we accepted. The twin was very comfortable, tastefully decorated and quite large. Excellent value for money! Really friendly staff and a nice local pub which unfortunately wasn't doing food the night we visited. Cozy and friendly pub / hotel, staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms and beds are good, these are outside the main building. Dinner and breakfast was very good. Friendly and helpful staff. Landlady looked after a bunch of cyclists so well. Food was superb and the service was great in a busy dining room. Highly recommended. The welcome - very warm The real ales - many and varied The menu - inexpensive and good value The room - large and comfortable The staff couldn't be more helpful. The room was nicely appointed. Iron,hair drier. The pub itself is very friendly and the food is good and above average pub food. The warmth and helpfulness of the staff/owners, the very good restaurant serving dinners and the individuality of the rooms. We were greeted very well and cordially and it was no trouble for the staff to look after any of our requirements. Well situated for those travelling on the A1, pleasant surroundings. We were worried by the big 'Sky sports shown here' banner across the pub that we first saw-we were expecting a nice little country pub. Our worries were totally unfounded - the whole experience was excellent!. Obviously it is a pub and the rooms were very close to the outside smoking area so there was conversation going on until around midnight, but one accepts that if you stay in a pub and it would not discourage us from staying there again. Slow running water in the bathroom both toilet refill and shower. No facillity for a bath. But no doubt had we asked it would have been fixed ..... Bedroom 3 was above the kitchen and quite noisy late at night. Only slight issue was that our stay coincided with a 40th birthday party, so it was quite noisy outside our room. That said, the party moved indoors at 11.00 pm and after that it was quieter. Wi-Fi wasn't available in guest rooms as advertised. Full English breakfast too big! Was there a half as much for £5 choice available for bkfst? No cover for window above Crows Nest door. staying in the main building was a little noisy until closing time. Room in an annex, rather like an outhouse, just off car park, not very cosy. one room was not cleaned, we received a discount.
