My wife and I were only staying at Portland House for one night, to break up our journey down to South Wales, so I was particularly impressed by the way that we were so warmly welcomed by owner Ruth. She was very friendly and helped us to relax as soon as we arrived. She and her husband Ross were also full of useful information, about the town, i.

Stayed in Room 1 - fabulous huge room with en-suite bathroom, wardrobe, period fireplace, 'home comforts' (TV, tea/coffee facilities) and best of all, extremely comfortable and cosy king-size bed.
Room was spacious and tastefully decorated.
Breakfast (full British) was delicious and arrived quickly when ordered.
Ruth, the hard-working co-owner/receptionist/waitress/chef(!), was very friendly and helpful - it was nice to get a text from her a couple of days before my arrival asking what time
