  My husband and I stayed at the South Place Hotel for a week's vacation. The hotel is in the heart of the business district, so it is a quieter neighborhood on the weekends, but bustling during the week. There are a number of nearby pubs, and a Marks & Spencer across the street if you require groceries.   Good location just a couple of hundred metres from a dlr station and right by the Thames. Friendly, efficient welcome from obviously highly professional staff, who quickly changed the beds when we pointed out we'd booked a twin rather than a double. Room was large and well decorated with a nice view of One Canada Square (Canary Wharf). Tiramisu in... wat mensen zeggen » the room to welcome us. Although we had booked room only, because we were there for the London Marathon, the hotel provided fruit, a cereal bar and L - Staff was exceptional, I have never experienced such seamless service. Housekeeping kept our room spotless. The housekeeper even offered to have a humidifier brought to our room when she heard me coughing. How thoughtful. While dining in the restaurant the staff noticed I was under the weather and made me a special tea. We were sitting in the lounge area and a staff member from the front desk noticed we needed refills on our beverages and alerted the food and beverage staff. I could go on and
