  There was a great view from the front of the cottage. We stayed in melyn and the real log fire made the room lovely and cosy. We went to climb pen-y-fan which was about a half hour drive but the snow was too deep, so we went sledging on a hill about 15 mins from the cottages and had a great time!   Pen-Y-Bryn Cottages was a wonderful first destination to your trip to the UK. While Aberdare isn't what you'd consider a touristy destination when considering a trip to Wales, the cottages were an incredible value. The owners, Debbie and Gerwyn, were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were the perfect size and having a kitchen to make breakfast... wat mensen zeggen » in was an enormous cost-saver for us. The view from the cottages was breathtaking with lots of animals about. Aberdare is about a half hour's drive - Most accommodating family owners I have ever met - they were so obliging with our time of arrival and when we left some belongings behind they posted them on without charge. Really relaxed & friendly and extremely good value - all amenities you could need. It is a drive outside Aberdare but you can walk to local shops. Actually it was much nicer being up on the hillside with peace & quite, view and their array of docile farm animals! Can not speak highly enough of the cottage for comfor
