Wat mensen zeggen
The hotel is set in the most beautiful grounds in which the historic past has been carefully and lovingly preserved. The hotel is a very fine 19th Century building in which every modern facility is available. The staff are helpful and hospitable and the atmosphere more that of a family home in which guests are welcomed and cherished. The grounds slope down to Loch Oich, the smallest, highest and freshest of the Great Glen chain of lochs. There is a rowing boat for those who wish to explore this. alle beoordelingen »
One of the best places my husband and I have ever stayed at. The service is attentive but unobtrusive. The accommodation is posh yet homely. The food was savoury. Lots of areas for relaxation: the lounge with a fireplace and the library. Also, the nearby area is stunningly beautiful and allows safe and scenic hiking. Needless to say the whole setting is absolutely breathtaking. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If we are ever in Scotland again, we would definitely like to come back.
PS We weren’.
Well designed very quiet bedrooms, generally the hotel conversion has kept all the features and style of the old building and this creates a great environment. Really good cuisine with a new menu every day, friendly and helpful staff, the environment seems to promote a very friendly atmosphere all round so evenings in the lounges can lead to chats with other guests.
Pretty much everything excelled: the views, the rooms, the public areas,
the restaurant. We booked the cheapest room and wound up even so with a
nice slice of the loch to look at (not to mention sheep!) It was fun
exploring the grounds and fishing on the loch from the rowboat, even if
we caught absolutely nothing.Fantastic place--and excellent value for
the money.
The location is spectacular. Of course weather conditions were perfect
so the hills and lochs were glistening. Every part of the hotel was calm
and relaxing. Our room looked out over the sheep field and the loch and
we took advantage of the row boats and fishing rods. Food any time of
day was absolutely delicious and the staff serving were first class.
The location is fantastic, in a quiet place overlooking the Loch Ness. The castle itself is imposing and you can view the original old castle within 5 minutes walk across the estate. Food and service at the restaurant are excellent. Views from the room overlooking the lakes are amazing.
I loved my holiday at Glengarry, it was close to so many wonderful
things to see and so lovely to just wander around the grounds, the
gardens and Loch are spectacular. The staff are wonderful and Castle
hotel was perfect. I felt like I was home, I didn't want to leave.
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights I wish it had been longer. The staff and food were excellent. They have a jetty and you can hire a row boat and fishing rods for a very reasonable price. Definitely stay again for longer. Free parking and plenty of it.
welcomed into a warm family enviroment, food first rate, staff very helpful and friendly, grounds and surrounding country side could have not been more relaxing. wonderful to rest in the lounges with coffee after dinner, thanks for a wonderful stay.
I booked Glengarry for our Pearl wedding anniversary and I couldn't have asked for anything better. The room, location, views and staff were excellent.
Glengarry made our special anniversary a very memorable occasion for all the right reasons.
This is a friendly and warm hotel. It is family run so it does not have any of the chain "lack of charm". Staff were very helpful and the food was excellent. There are two lovely rooms overlooking the loch with log fires. Delightful.
Wonderful location in 19th century gardens and parklands beside Loch Oich. The hotel decor is classic English country, lots of chintz. Nice views from our room, comfortable bed and new bathroom. Meals were excellent.
Great location near the loch with large comfortable rooms and good old fashion table service in the dining room for both breakfast and dinner. Staff very helpful and friendly. All in a very relaxing environment.
The hotel was delightfully welcoming, excellent staff, outstanding service, very comfortable room, superb food. Beautiful views and grounds with lovely facilities, eg tennis court, and jetty to the loch.
The rooms were comfortable and clean. Dinner was delicious. We ordered a four course meal and greatly enjoyed the fresh flavours and chocolate dessert. The staff were friendly and made us feel relaxed.
It was a lovely private quiet place with an idyllic setting beside a small loch. Very picturesque and restful. The staff were very professional. The old castle ruins on the property were a draw card.
Superb experience. The staff were excellent, very helpful and gave great advice. The restaurant meals were varied and of a very high standard. We loved our stay and would like to return.
The very best service and food for the price anywhere. Beautiful setting and easy access to Loch Ness and the surrounding countryside. You will not be disappointed if you stay here!.
The four course meal is a must, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The library & sitting room added the special touch. Combined with the countryside this was a stay to remember.
Charming welcome at reception. Lovely building, superb room with four-poster, lovely grounds including a ruined castle and the loch shore. Excellent food and service.
Magical setting beside a tranquil loch
Stunning building with quality traditional interior design
Cosy peat fires
Excellent food and extensive single malt selection.
The level of customer service that I experienced at this hotel was exceptional. The location is perfect for a quiet retreat with fantastic views of the highlands.
We were on our honeymoon when we went to the glengarry and it was amazing. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and the interior of the castle was beautiful.
Beautiful location, perfect for our anniversary week-end. Very helpful and friendly staff, nothing to much trouble, food excellent! Will definitely be returning!.
The scottish ambience, the magnificent grounds, the best drive in the
highlands to the remote end of glengarry, the helpfulness
&FRIENDLINESS of the staff.
Considering that our stay was for only one night, the highpoint was the food, dinner and breakfast, and the superior way both meals were served.
Pleasant, accomodating staff. Relaxed atmosphere with old world feel. Dinner was lovely. Nice entree selections which were of ample size.
The hotel ticked all our boxes for our honeymoon, clean, classy with attentive staff; the location was perfect.
We will be visiting again :).
The hotel is in such a wonderful location. The rooms are very comfortable, dining is intimate, food very good. A real luxurious experience.
The location was great, nice and quite, lovely grounds for walking. We had dinner here and the food was excellent, staff very helpfull.
Wonderful place in an outstanding location.
Dinner was of the highest standard, quite the best of the whole holiday by a country mile.
It was a lovely the staff we excellent, the room was supberb, very in keeping with the building.
The grounds were a delight.
The Hotel is absolutely amazing! Beautiful surroundings, friendly staff, great food! Everything was just perfect!.
We have travelled quite extensively and have not found accommodation as good as Glengarry. Highly recommended.
The people who run this hotel took pride in what they do. My best and my
Mum's best of the whole holiday.
Loved this very private castle hotel. Great location by the lake, with a nearby walk to a castle ruins.
Charming hotel with polite and friendly staff. Loved the old style bath in our room and large bedroom.
Everything!! Lovely, charming property...gorgeous grounds on the loch. Delicious meals. Superb staff.
The location was beautiful. The castle was great, the rooms are big and the staff were really nice.
very friendly helpful staff. Good food in restaurant. Well situated in beautiful countryside.
everything about Glengarry Castle was outstanding, I cant reccomend this place highly enough.
Very nice setting, friendly staff.
The room was nice, but many stairs to climb to get there.
Loved the location and ability to walk in the grounds.
Loved the food and friendly staff.
This is one of the most spectacular places I've ever stayed in. I
felt like royalty.
Fabulous location - everything that a "classic" Scottish Castle Hotel should be.
The location is superb. the welcome was very good and the staff most friendly.
Castle was great, staff were great, dinner was fabulous, location was perfect.
Staff were excellent especially the receptionist - couldnt be more pleasant.
Wonderful style, great atmosphere, fantastic location and views, good value.
The staff was very nice and the location good. The building was beautiful.
Having to leave.
Very little except the reading lights, if the weather is poor or you are tired the lounges are fine for reading and playing games. However the level of lighting made it difficult to read when the outside natural light was poor. I can see that in early spring and Autumn guests should have decent reading lamps available. Low energy bulbs do not provide the white spectrum light that over 50's need to be able to read easily in artificial light. this was a problem late one evening in June.
Wished we could have seen a bit more sun!.
That we had to leave.
People at reception were a bit cold and not so friendly. The rooms are a bit on the small side.
Having to leave!.
absolutely nothing.
Leaving.
Meals all came a little too quickly. Staff uniforms were a little institutional and could be smartened up a bit. Otherwise I had no criticisms. Overall the nicest of the hotels we stayed at in Scotland.
we could not fault the hotel in ANY way.
A few more signs to point us in the direction of the hotel would have been helpful.
The bed was a bit hard.
Nothing - if you want to be picky there is no draught beer.
Nothing.
Nothing!.
The absence of markings in the car park. Although it is really spacious
enough early arrival cars are parked at one and a half intervals so it
can be difficult to find a space. The low level of lighting in the
bedroom No 22 compounded by the canopy over and to the side of the bed
restricts reading in bed.
blow dryer,.
Only booking one night.
nothing.
Television in our room needed upgrading.
Couldn't stay longer ;).
The food in the restaurant is not up to the standards of the rest of the hotel. Poor quality for the price.
Water was not hot enough for a bath.
nothing to dislike.
The dinner was a disapointment.
With the setting the castle has, the kitchen should provide a standard that matches the castle.
Only the fact that we arrived at around 8pm and had to leave by 11am the
next day. This amazing place deserves one entire day.
The hotel, apart from in the rooms with open fires, was cold and a bit draughty, but we were there in winter!.
Nothing.
The dinner - the menu did not go with the hotel, would have been happier to pay more for gourmet food.
Nothing.
Not much.
