Everything! I thoroughly enjoyed my six-night stay. My room was spotless, the guest house both friendly and quiet, and breakfast delicious--I especially liked the cherry tomatoes, cheese, croissants, and fruit. Julian, the proprietor, and Marlena, who helped him, were gracious hosts. They gave me a grand tour of the new B&B, down on the water front, which just opened on July 1st. All thanks for a wonderful visit. It was perfect for the reason I went to Aberystwyth--to do research at the. alle beoordelingen »
Good room. Great breakfast. Excellent service. I was very late coming in from Falmouth, Cornwall. At 7.30 pm, 30 minutes before the latest check-in time of 8.00 pm I was still in Bristol, more than 3 hours drive from Aberystwyth. I phoned the house and informed that I would arrive 11.00 pm and Marlena, the housekeeper said no problem, she could wait for me. I arrived 10.50 pm, and Marlena opened the door after just one press of the door bell.
The staff were friendly,The room was comfortable, came with a cafetiere
and some very nice coffee in the room, was a very strange and quirky
hotel, effeminately different to anything else I've ever been to!
Also didn't pester me about checking out even though I was a little
late. Would 100% recommend.
I stayed for 6 nights at The Shelley Town Residence, felt at home (I loved the library corner !), really cosy & clean, and the staff is fantastic, helpful, giving good tips to visit, go shopping, have a drink, well, I definitely recommend it :and hope to come back soon : ).
Beautiful comfortable place. The stuff is very friendly. You can feel that you are in your home. You can relax and enjoy your stay while drinking tea and looking at clouds outside of the window. Clean bathroom. I definitely recommend to spend a few days there.
Polite and professional staff. Clean and friendly. An interest if a little disorganised academic library scattered around the guesthouse. It's set up for visiting students More than anything. When I asked questions the staff went out of their way to help.
Location in town and convenience for university.
Excellent customer service from Marlena.
Comfortable and clean accommodation.
Tea and coffee making facilities in room, with nice touch of added bottle of sparkling water.
Having made booking I telephoned to confirm and advise of a late arrival. I was offered a transfer to their sister hotel 'cardigan bay' for the same rate as booked online. Julian was fantastic and very helpful. 9/10.
Real coffee and a real teapot in the room. I've stayed in £150 a night + hotels and not got that luxury. Friendly staff who are very keen to help out
It is basic but it's £25 a night inc vat and breakfast.
This is a quirky hotel a stone's throw from the beach and town. Room was small, but freedom to use downstairs rooms and there is a small patio. Great breakfast and fresh ground coffee in the rooms.
We love the unpretentiousness and informality, and that nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The organic coffee and fair trade tea are a bonus much appreciated.
The friendly and (beyond belief) helpful staff, the informal atmosphere, the interaction with the other guests, and finally, the excellent coffee.
Flexibility of staff - the personal approach and the ability to have conversations, both with staff and other guests.
Central to railway station and promenade.
Clean, tidy, charming little place - value for money.
Very welcoming and friendly staff, made the stay a very good one. I'll go back definitely.
Staff very friendly good breakfast service, clean would stay again had a lovely wkend.
The stuff was really kind and the hotel , our room especially, really warm and lovely.
Breakfast was very good, and so was the mattress; and wifi signal was excellent.
Good value for money.
Central location to center of town
Friendly, helpful staff.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Plenty for breakfast.

Nice building.
Everything.
continental breakfast-well presented and fruit a nice touch. Lovely bright area to eat in. Coffee good and plentiful
Good library
Owner friendly/chatty.
Staff very friendly. If not staying long and you know you wont be in much, this accomodation is fine.
Staff extremely helpful
Breakfast
location.
Exceptional library. Staff. Price.
Excellent continental breakfast.
Central location.
Breakfast.
Place was nice and clean.
Nothing.
The location is a bit of a pain to get to for someone who doesn't
know Aberystwyth, the shared bathroom is also an inconveience (I had
to wait for about 45 mins for the bathroom in the morning when I was
gagging to get showered and go home!) Was also a baby crying on and
off for a lot of the time I was there, not sure if the baby was a
visitors however.
Too easy to guess code on room. Door didn't close without extra manipulation. Bed too soft and bed sheets wouldn't stay in place. Only one shower/bath made it complicated. Some guests were very noisy after returning after midnight on a week day (obviously can't blame the guesthouse). Fixing the door and replacing the mattress would make a huge improvement.
One bathroom to meet needs of all guests.
Intermittent hot water feed to shower causing fluctuating temperature.
Students......everywhere..... Like rats.....but it is aberystwyth.
A few minor repairs are due to be done, but apart from that, nothing.
We are happy with it all, but other guests might be put off by a few areas of bare floorboards, the fact that the facilities I(ie loos and bathroom) are not en suite, and the Aberystwyth menace: early morning seagull noise!.
Not the hotel's fault, but some students in a nearby house had a noisy party the night we stayed: the neighbouring residents plan to get this partying problem sorted!.
Could do with another shower !!.
No tv, not enough milk only filter coffee available. Bed to soft in single felt like I was on floor.
The room was very small and the decor was dated.
Nothing!.
the cold water.
no offstreet parking.
Nothing.
Would be nice to have tv, but I had read other peoples comments so
brought a dvd player so no real hardship.
Weather and no entertainment for children.
room too small-claustraphobic for more than one night for me personally
no wardrobe-room too small for one, although hangars sufficed behind the door
a sink would be a nice touch
shower- couldn't get hot although I didn't bring this to the notice of the owner (power was on, dial set to hot and switch turned to hot).
The room is as exatly how they say, and is clean, just seems a little bit overpriced. No TV, No cooked breakfast, have to be out the room too early.
Room size - extremely small and nowhere to put clothes
One bathroom not enough for number of rooms and guests.
Stayed in a tiny attic room up 3 flights of wooden, noisy stairs with a small skylight window, which did not block out the light. Knew we had a shared bathroom, but did not realise this serviced 9 rooms, (also a separate toilet + basin). There were queues in the morning - do not think this is acceptable.
Only one communal toilet
No TV.
Sharing a bathroom.
There were several noisy openings and closings of the door of the room adjacent to mine which continued until around 01.00 am and disturbed my sleep.
There was no TV in my room. The only member of staff was unable to give me a VAT receippt.
very cold and inapropiate to go in low season.
very expensive for the confort being offered.
The room was way overpriced. No curtains so the sunrise woke me up at 5am..not nice.
Cold House Hassled me to know my arrival time so they could go out ?
Only One shared bathroom between the whole house Very narrow street
outside goving impossible parking Breakfast in a lean to Incredibly
small bedroom Could have got a proper hotel for 10gbp more.
