The hotel staff were pretty friendly and offered great services for us.
Even though we arrived around 11pm and bath-time was over, the owner told us to enjoy the bath. it was really nice after a long drive.

Some facilities may need renovation but the ryokan itself is very clean and comfortable. In each of our double rooms there was a shower and additionally every evening it was possible to soak and relax in a hot o-furo (public bath). The ryokan is located in the centre of Kyõto, near Higashiyama or Gion, but in a small street so it isn't noisy at all. The little Japanese-style indoor garden is really cute and so Japanese! ;-) The rooms are also very traditional and just a bit old-fashioned.

although location is far from city, there is direct JR Bus from Kyoto station to the place. take about 40 mins though. fyi for other traveler as if take JR bus from Kyoto station, alight at Takahanacho stop then walk back about 100m then cross the other side of road. will find easily. staf

Owner and staffs are so friendly. I think he waited for our coming after
I confirmed arrival time because while we were walking to find Ryokan
and almost getting lost, he called us from in front of Ryokan. I was so
impressed. I got a big clean room with garden view and not close to the
street so it was quite and peaceful. This room is what I think when stay
in ryokan. Love it.

great place in a traditional style (we took Japanese room). Though not on the budget side of price and breakfast is not included in the rate, it is worth every penny paid. Very nice hotel. Clean, quiet, elegant and comfortable. Unlike most of the hotels we've visited in Japan, it is rather spacious and with a touch for detail. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they speak english pretty well. In fact, while we were in Kyoto we lost our digital camera, when the police found it, the hotel emailed us. My wife and I stayed there and was very warmly welcomed by the staff. My wife is pregnant but we found sleeping on the tatami mattress comfortable. Decided to get a room with a view of the Japanese garden, was definitely
worth the extra money. The staff were exceptionally patient with our
limited language ability and extremely helpful in regard to local
information and travel questions. The room was very quiet and
exceptionally clean, I would definitely recommend staying here,
especially for those travelling with jr Pass as the location is very
near the rail station.

help you find your way around with restaurant recommendations (all

The location is excellent, just 5+ mins walk from the main Kyoto station. Price is reasonable for the service and facilities. Rooms are clean and fully equipped. Staff served tea to us every day when we came back to the ryokan. They have a free cultural night event every night run by volunteer staff. They are so friendly and it was really nice learning about their lives in Kyoto, as well as pick up some origami/calligraphy writing. Highly recommended!

This was a very minimal Japanese style hotels with just futons to sleep
on the Tatami. The a/c worked great and the showers were powerful.
This is a "big city" Ryokan so it is not like those in smaller

ever!! This top-end traditional Japanese ryokan dishes out luxury and

Good location, very easy to walk to main shopping area and metro stations. The public bath is very good so we choose not to take bath in the bathroom of our rooms. We stayed three days and they managed three different breakfast courses, all of them very nice. Friendly frontdesk staff who can speak acceptable English. -
