  A hidden door at the foot of the Yasaka shrine in Kyoto leads to a flight of rock stairs.... This was an amazing cultural experience. It allows the visitor a trip to another time with a tradition Japanese Inn (Royokan) served with an exquisitely prepared kaiseki banquet and large Japanese ( or Western style) breakfast. The wait staff and the lovely woman who welcomed us to our rooms were wonderful, friendly and spoke goo - Where does one start with Yuzuya? I stayed for two glorious nights and the place is amazing. Worth every penny: the room is beautiful, with antiques and everything just so. The highlight is the food! I had two dinners and both were some of the best food I have ever eaten. Exquisitely presented on Kyoto pottery, each dish was a work of art. Breakfast was also amazing. This is a very special place- stay here if you can.   My stay of 5 nights was a truly lovely experience from arrival to departure, wonderful room design (King, level 2), everything thoughtfully arranged, lots of space to hang and put away clothes and other items, scrupulously clean, spacious shower, a calming room which was a delightful refuge after busy days out. I've lodged at many fine hotels across the glob - 1) Breakfast - European buffet was to die for!! they cook ham in front of your eyes, excellent choice of fruit, muesli, sausages, fish. 2) Spacious room. 3) Staff speaks good English and very helpful, allowed us to leave our luggage for free for 3 days even when we left for Tokyo and then didn't come back to Hyatt again. 4) Locality is really convenient for both sightseeing (next to Kyoto Museum and various temples) and logistics point (5 min from train/shinkansen station)

  The hotel is well located, very close to the main train station and the Gion district, the beautiful and traditional part of Kyoto. The rooms are really stunning, with a wonderful fusion of traditional and modern Japanese design. The rooms are also very large (especially for Japanese standards) and we felt instantly relaxed upon arrival. The wi-fi was the best we experienced on our Japan trip and even good enoug - The rooms at Kanra are visually beautiful. The design is typically Japanese and the management have put a lot of thought and money into the aesthetics and decor. They make beautiful use of hidden lighting to give the room subtely and sophistication. The size of the room is enormous by any standard, let alone Japanese, and the bed is separated from the tatami mat TV room by a bamboo screen. The bed is so comfortable and the pillows just right.

  Great location and service. A secluded, traditional Japanese experience for the western-world traveler who wants something off the tourist path. Nearby temple is a must see at fall. Rooms in the annex are very nice, with more space than you'd think from the description. Ours included an outdoor bath even though the website description did not sp... wat mensen zeggen » ecify. It was great. - We stayed in the room with private outdoor bath because we are not comfortable with the public bath. Overall the place is nice, staffs are friendly and the meals are excellent. The scenery is nice. My husband and I took a morning walk about 1 hour to explore the nearby places.
