Immersed in rolling green countryside, this family-run organic farm is set on Monte Tancia, a 30-minute drive from Rieti. It offers a peaceful location, an outdoor pool and rustic rooms with parquet floors.
Olive oil, cured meats and fruit preserves are just some of the products made at Il Fienile Di Orazio. The farm is home to 4 Sardinian donkeys, numerous ducks and geese, and a rabbit.
Rooms are bright and feature wrought iron beds. Each has a private bathroom and offers relaxing views of the surrounding countryside.
Breakfast varies with the seasons, but includes homemade cakes, fruit preserves and fairtrade coffee or tea. Dinner is available if booked in advance, and owners Ornella and Mauro serve a creative mix of traditional Roman and local cuisine, prepared from the farm's own produce.
Bikes are a great way to see the area, and can be hired at the farm. Guests can explore the area's many chalk caves, including the one dedicated to San Michele Arcangelo, a 1-hour hike away.
Il Fienile is 70 km from Rome's GRA Ring Road, and a 40-minute drive from Monti Lucretili Regional Park. Parking is free.
