  We opened the shutters in our room to see a superb view of the famous sassi of Matera. The staff at reception went out of their way to help us check the details of the next leg of our journey and the friendliness we received left us with just a desire to return soon.   Amazing cave room - absolutely HUGE! Believe this was the best room and it certainly had the wow factor and provided a unique experience. Lovely outside terrace too.Staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious and generous. De-humidifiers essential though - it had rained and the humidity in the room was quite high but what do ... wat mensen zeggen » you expect from a cave! A fabulous experience and would highly recommend a trip to this amazing place. - The location in the centre of Sassi is perfect. The amenities were excellent, we did not want for anything and outstanding views right in front of the Hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our thanks especially go to Chiara and Cinzia.

  Magic. One of those experiences that should be on a "at least once in your lifetime" list. The atmosphere and the comfort that has been created while maintaining the rough patina of caves is amazing - to the last detail. We regretted that we had only booked one night. The staff helped us to make the most out of the short stay. Within one hour we h... wat mensen zeggen » ad a dinner reservation in a great restaurant, a private guided tour the next morning, followed by a massage in the room, before checking out. The loc - Staying at Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita was an amazing experience. The location, in Matera amongst the 'sassi', was spell binding and the luxurious accommodation blended with the location very well. I would describe the accommodation as rustic embellished with luxurious touches - from the designer bath to the amazing breakfast! It says a lot that when we arrived and saw the place we immediately wanted to extend our stay! A big thank you to the helpful, interested staff.

  This was a great experience -- outstanding rooms, right in the Sassi, with wireless internet and a good restaurant too. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. I hope to stay here again. - Good experience to stay in Sassi. Scenery from the hotel terrace was outstandintg.

  Perfecte locatie midden in Matera, erg gastvrij en goed ontbijt. - Our hosts, Aldo and Rosa, made our stay in Matera memorable for all the right reasons. From Aldo's kind greeting, complete explanation of all the facilities and help to find the secure parking for our car (he even accompanied me to it, organised a cheap special rate for our 2 days... wat mensen zeggen » , and then walked back to the B&B with me - 10 minutes walk) to Rosa's breakfasts and her kind attention to detail. The room had a super balcony overlooking the Sassi, cathedral and a busy street with plenty of lif - We loved everything about this place. The apartment itself was spacious and clean; the balcony, looking out over the sassi and the Duomo, was fabulous and perfect for an afternoon aperitivo. The cafe/bar downstairs was great and run by a friendly woman. Best of all were Aldo and Rosa... the best hosts ever!   This was a very pleasant, clean and well situated hotel to explore the very interesting attractions of Matera particularly the Sassi area. It has very nice large rooms and parking on site.
