  Hotel Ristorante San Carlo is located above Lake Maggiore with stunning views which extended to the Swiss/Italian alps. The lakeside towns were rustic and interesting although 'quiet' during our winter stay. The room was large and modern and all facilities worked well. We enjoyed our three nights in this wonderful hotel and felt safe and contented in the lee of Europe's tallest stat - We booked two rooms, a double for my husband and me and a single for our adult son. We had the amazing view of the lake which was so serene and our son's window was filled with the imposing figure of San Carlo. Wonderful! The place was immaculately clean, the staff very friendly and waited up for us to arrive at 11pm. There was a good range available for breakfast and the dinner menu offered local cuisine, rabbit pie, fish from the lake etc. All with that amazing view.

  It was an arduous trip getting to Aruna, what w/ a train snafu in Milan. Chose Michelangelo because of its good letsbookhotel.com review scores but was pleased to have two old fellows know to point us to the RIGHT as you depart the station (most are on the left); from there it was a pleasant & pretty stroll. R - we (couple, 28/31) booked the Hotel at the last minute. Even though we booked a double room, we were given a Family room. Was very big and most important: very clean. There is no view and shutters were closed due to the warm weather. Location is spot on, maybe 300 meters to town and 200 meters to the Lido where you are able to swim for free.
