  A wonderful old manor house restored in a theatrical style of drapes and paintings. The current owners couldn't be more open and helpful - Alessandro has a wealth of knowledge of the history of the town and the region despite being there for less than a year. He has also set up the wine museum on display in the hotel cellars. We were made to feel completely at home such that in the even - Montecarlo is a charming walled village with a number of very good restaurants. One fine dining restaurant is in the Michelin guide, the Pizzeria on the terrace overlooking the countryside is great and so is the little Trattoria. We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived and the hosts were really helpful. The room was great, furnishings are classic and there are antique pieces in the various public rooms, we also liked the artistic touches with flowers and furnishings painted onto walls.

  Hotel villa la Nina was perfect. The friendly familie runs the hotel with the restaurant. The restaurant was very good, typical Italian kitchen. I had my best Italian steak ever. The location of the hotel is on a mountain, near the little place Montecarlo. It is just 15 minutes from Lucca, 45 minutes to the beach and firenze. Ideal for a week trip... wat mensen zeggen » in typical Italian style. We had a couple of time breakfast in the hotel, it was very good and completed. We had a wonderful time in the hotel and we - The spacious room and bathroom with a magnificent view! And ofcourse the wonderful food in the restaurant. The waiters are happy to explain the menu in good English. The location is also good, about 10 km from Lucca, very near Montecarlo (a very small city). To Florence we went by train from Altopascio. Free parking, 13 eur pp by train, approx 1,5 hrs and you re in the centre of the city. Pisa is an about 45 minutes drive, as well as the beach.

  This is a quite recent building in a very quiet area. Friendly and helpful owners. Large rooms and bathroom. Very good restaurant. - We liked the fact that people were polite and the food served was good. Lunch for 30 euros/2 people with pasta and local food. Location close to Lucca which is way more interesting than Pisa. A bit far from Florence... wat mensen zeggen » , but reachable. Gps is a must in order to reach Montecarlo and this place.
