  Very helpful reception staff who spoke English and appreciated my attempts to speak in French. Comfortable room. Good simple breakfast. You can park by the hotel to unload and then drive a short distance to the public car park near the Gendarmerie. For ten Euros returnable deposit you can borrow a free parking card. Kaysersberg is a lovely alpine ... wat mensen zeggen » small town - expensive but there's a good supermarket on the French approach to the town. - The location was fantastic, and the breakfast was simple but good. Also, the late check-in process was simple - the hotel provided us with a code to get in and the keys were waiting for us just inside.

  L'Abbaye d'Alspach, a former 11th century convent, had a wonderful, chateau-like archi-tecture. Situated towards the southern end of the Routes des Vins, it was well-located for touring the very worthwhile and enjoyable Ecomusee d'Alsace, the Routes des Vins, Colmar and Strasbourg. We enjoyed the medieval town of Kientzheim and a quick trip up a nearby - Absolutely wonderful room with a large balcony and garden chairs, table and parasol - lovely to relax on. Nice views from Balcony. Nice village. Lots wine tasting in walking distance. Good for cycling. Very comfortable, beds ggod, great pillows, good quality bathroom. Clean, well decorated, modern and tasteful in the room, but the hotel is an old abby. Best to stay here and eat at Swendi as the abby doesnt offer evening meals unfortunately.   We had a mini-suite, generously sized, with a balcony. Recently renovated; with taste, respecting the character and charm of the old house; but not compromising on modern amenities (bathroom, heating / air-con, wireless).
