- Excellent common area with a great selection of beers, good food, a small library, and a pool table - Decent room size (standard twin room) with clean bathrooms. - Good amount of information available if you wish to see things in Kunming (we were only there for 1/2 a day really so didn't really make too much use of this) - They arranged for a car to the airport. The location of the hostel was pretty good, close to Green Lake. They could organise most things easily and the staff were very helpful. The food was good (just watch out some items, esp pizza, can take quite a while!). The bar area is great, as is the extra quiet area upstairs.
alle beoordelingen » Very cosy atmosphere, people are very friendly, interactions with people from various parts of the world. I felt very at home during the time I stayed there. The food was very delicious and the price were very reasonable. I would not hesitate to come back again in future. It a quite area but at a walking distance from the center of town. Much better than the hostels at the center where they give you ear plugs so you could sleep - and even that does always work. Nice staff, fun bar to hang out in, the room are nice and not too small. Very nice staff, speaking good English, good place for stay because it is close to everything. Rooms are clean and had almost everything you gonna need. I like restaurant, food there was delicious and it good place for spend some time after tours. Nice and central location near to the green lake park, quiet well equiped rooms, crowded bar with good food and breakfast, pool and pingpong table, very nice staff, building is very clean and looks like it has been renovated recently. The room we had on the 6 th floor was great, nice and Clean. The Place of the Youth Hostel was great because it was near to the Green Lake. There were also local buses Close to the hostel. The bar aera was cool and cosy. Nice place to meet lots of new friends. loving the bar they provide which has comfy seating. nice location, close to cuihu lake and lots of restaurants nearby. also very close to bus station. staff speaks good english. This is a very good hostel. Comfortable bed, great range of food and drinks available from the cafe, staff were very friendly and helpful with tour information. Very highly recommended. The friendly cafe staff Xiao Qing helped to keep lookout for my son in the dining area while I had to be away for some time. Appreciate her customer oriented service attitude. The alley from the hostel goes through a housing complex and the next street has lots of different options for cheap local meals. The mattresses are soft and the shower has a good water flow. Nevertheless, don't take room 603. It's next to a dorm and the guys there are early birds, loud early birds. Excellent information on transportation at the reception. Friendly & helpful staff. Close to everything, had soaps in the bathroom, nice living room. It is clean Good location. French breakfast was good. Location very good. - water supply only for 4 hours in the day (this is not a problem of the hostel per say, but is a problem in the entire area of kunming because of the drought they are experiencing). Found the wifi a bit patchy if not in the bar, would have been good if it had better coverage in the upstairs lounge area because it's a great quiet place for skyping. We to carry our luggages up the stairs and had to walk a long way to the room. Wi-Fi doesn't work in my room had to stay in restaurant for stable connection. If you have a heavy luggage, it will be uncomfortable to take it to your room. You have to take it upstairs to the restaurant, go through it, pass the rest area and only then you get to the elevator, and if you room is located on 2nd floor... Yes, stairs, again. no aircon in the rooms so it might get a bit cold in the winter. The staff was correct but not so overwhelming friendly. The staff in the bar was a Little bit lazy and laidback. It took almost 40 min to get breakfast one morning... Our room was Close to the showers so sometimes we Heard the noice of it but that was more a problem from the guests, not from the Hostel! (A Young guy dried his hair 1 am!). Breakfast time was a little messy as the barista had to remember who ordered what & customer seat location. Might be easier if each food order is given a number tag so that service staff can quickly send it to the right table. Rooms on the courtyard can be noisy, but a youth hostel is about sharing with fellow travellers, after all. none. The food & drink is a little bit expensive but you're so close to many other options. The location... We really struggled to find the hostel. And as no one speak English in Kunming... Fortunately the staff at the hostel do speak good English, and they helped us out. However, it might be a good idea to ask the hostel how to get there especially if you come via the airport. Also it was freezing cold in our room as there were not heater. All windows face bar area on same level, where people can peer right in the window, so I could never enjoy the view. The worst quality is the bar not closing until 1 AM and loud conversations in Chinese continuing until 1:30 AM beneath the window, with early morning rising at 4 Am for airport and travels on busses, etc. Should limit bar hours. Lighting could be better for reading in bed. They need an elevator from the front desk to where the room located. You need to carry your luggage UP a long staircase to get to the bar then your room. they do have an elevator after that. No wi-fi in rooms. It is not a terrible thing but maybe the restaurant should not be in the middle of your way to your room. Weak wi-fi even in lounge area. Can become crowded. WiFi access very poor. the hostel catering service is very bad. taste no good and a lot of food display in the menu cannot be order. I hate lift start from 2nd floor. From the desk to the elevator we had carry our bag through stairs and room cafe. Not suitable for people who carry a heavy bag very small room. Food. Staff were good but often short-handed. No fan and no AC (and I guess no hearing in winter). Keeping the windows open was the only option to cool down the room, but this also let the street noise in. Bring your ear plugs. The toilet smelled pretty bad as if it had not been properly washed with a good detergent. The noise - even though we've asked for a quiet double room (they gave us a twin). But the biggest frustration was the restaurant. It is a DISASTER. Food is served cold and you have to wait for a very, very, very long time. If you complain, people will smile - or laugh - and leave you without any answer. Staff in the kitchen are very bad trained. No aircon or fan in the room. Can be hot & stuffy during summer. Staff. Internet wifi is terrible!! Front desk people is rude. information were not correct / same as previuos emails about car rental for stone forest. which i hope in future they would give more accurate info to tourist. The staff was so unfriendly i wanted to go to red land and did not know how to they told me that they do not know after i insisted they were swearing in chinese and just told me to use the internet but that hardly works. Smell from the toilet. Bit noisy when room on 1st floor.
