  The staff is exceptional -- all spoke English, even the maid. All wentout of their way to be friendly and helpful and gracious. We added on ahalf day, since our flight didn't leave til evening, and the maid camein and made up the room with fresh towels and everything while we wereat lunch.   I absolutely loved the ambience of the hotel. The staff were courteous and helpful - Gerry Mo, Gabrielle and a host of others that unfortunately, I can't recall their names at this point The in-house restaurants serve a variety of fresh and delicious dishes, I particularly enjoyed the Mai Japanese Restaurant buffet.   I loved everything about Shangri-La; although abit on the expensive side but worth it. The hotel is the grandest I have ever visited, the service is excellent and has lived up to its 5-star status.   Booked in for a for a standard room and because my birthday was the following week, I was upgraded with a suite, and given wine and chocolate. Wonderful gesture, but as I had a 1am flight, wasn't able to take full advantage of staying the night. The room was always cleaned to perfection and the minibar was complimentary and the breakfast bufe seduced us back every single morning. We truly reccomend this hotel.

  Value for money and very modern hotel. Stayed here last year and will definitely come back. Very friendly staff, especially the concierge. Rooms modern and clean, very good service at the restaurants - The hotel is very clean and has several different restaurants, the staff is very friendly and can speak good English. Overall the hotel is nice.

  For me is the 3rd time i stayed at Baiyun Hotel. It is a good hotel if you go to Guangzhou for Business. Indeed it is a Chinese hotel and you can have some little difficulties with the language and cigarette (if you are not a smoker). Just in front of the hotel you have a metro station, and a commercial street with many options for international and chinese restaur - The staff were very helpful and many of them spoke English or were able to ask someone else to answer any questions we had. The choice of food was great. Nearly all the written information in the room was in English as well as Chinese! Generally an amazing hotel, staff and facilities.
