Kapok was on the door step of the forbidden city and tien'amen and very convenient for the purpose; to visit these. The taxi we took from the airport (170rmb which was scam) can not find the place he had to call the hotel and drop us at one of the entrance. There are two entrances.   We stayed for 5 nights from March 28 to April 2. They granted us all our requests: big carpeted room with king-sized bed and nice view. Thanks Ms Jenny of reservations whom I had been coordinating with via email! The hotel is very near the Chongwenmen subway station (lines 2 & 5). The hotel is also directly connected to New Worl - The staff, especially Julia, was quick to respond to our needs and complaints. We were transferred to the upper floor when we complained about the noise from the renovation and to a non-smoking floor as requested.   We had booked a 2-bedroom family suite, which was apparently not available when we arrived--so for the same price were upgraded to a junior suite (living room, br, 1-1/2 baths) and adjacent deluxe room...very elegant and even more luxurious than we'd expected.
