While many Chinese tourists were doing tours of the of the area, we saw it first hand. The hotel is an older style building but quite comfortable. There is also a nice convenience store downstairs and great alley cafe down the road. Family room was spacious and had a pc. Its also inside a nice, quiet and quaint compound.staff were helpful in getting us a taxi and attending to our needs.

  The location was excellent. In the middle of the Hutong. We stayed in a traditional room which was very spacious. We also rented bicycles at the hotel, which made it very easy to visit the sights in Beijing. The bicycle was a good idea. We were dropped almost in the hall of the hotel. Also we booked a Great Wall - Very nice hotel with traditional Chinese decor!   Really like the place, real Beijing feel. - By its very nature I was immersed in the Hutong and saw how those people live on a daily basis. For one week I got to feel like a real Beijinger living in the Hutong (albeit a fancy Hutong) and see the culture in a way that is impossible for a tour group staying in a fancy hotel.
