The Fat Pigeon - Photos
Ce que les gens disent
It was a lovely, old farmhouse/manor house with real character. The grounds were lovely, the rooms were comfortable, and the breakfasts were enjoyable. It was out of Yeoville in its own grounds, making it a quiet retreat on a working farm-estate. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this historic property and found it to be very welcoming. We will stay again when we are in Yeovil.
Beautiful house with helpful staff, very eccentric which is what I like,
lovely beds very comfy, like stepping on the set of pride and prejudice!
It depends on what you want, not as slick as travel lodge but has heaps
more character, house in doomsday book! Say no more!!! I loved it and
going back soon.tous commentaires »
I stayed with my husband and two older children. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and Lady Mary. Our family room was very spacious with very comfortable beds. Wonderful views from the bedroom overlooking the lake. The location was so atmospheric and steeped in history. A real treat.
The approach, along the tree lined avenue, with views of Yeovil below. The farmhouse ambiance, the lovely sized room, the quietness of the location, the breakfast room seeting and the simpleness of the food. All delightful, all very good.
Beautiful buildings , some being renovated currently. Loved sitting out in the evening sunshine on the lawn. Peaceful and quiet. Interiors delightful and bed comfortable .Mullion windows and historic interior have to be seen..
We didn't expect what we got. It was a marvellous place with excellent staff. We didn't expect a 5 star hotel but loved the casual feel. Lady Mary was wonderful and the staff excellent. We stepped back into history and loved it.
The room was very good. Its a neat place to stay with turreted buildings
in what must be an old manor house. The rooms were big. Love to know the
history of the place. Very pretty place in a farm setting.
The stately home, some parts dating back to 14th century. This is the charm of the place. Very helpful and friendly owner. Delicious food. Lovely and spacious grounds. Would thoroughly recommend.
Its a bit out of the way. Bit of a walk to get dinner, but the place is so nice and peacefull. After a long days work i had the best sleep ever. Thats all you can ask for. Nice people.
what a setting for a b&b,wish i could have stayed longer, excellent staff, owner, room ,food, view.but remember to pick up your drinks on the way in(asda)as long walk to a pub.
Lovely big room, bed really comfy, sheets smelled delicious, gorgeous roll top bath and stunning views of the grounds from the window.
Quiet, peaceful and relaxing stay. Just what we needed.
Steeped in history and old world charm. We wanted to stay longer.
Beautiful old Somerset farmhouse, full of historical character, cleaned up but still with all it's original charm.
Historical House and setting with lovely grounds freely available, with friendly owner and staff.
ideal location, just far enough away to get some rest, no traffic noise what-so-ever.
Made to feel like one of the family. The house and gardens are beautiful.
Fantastic location in the Somerset countryside on a beautiful old estate.
Great building will arrive earlier next time to enjoy fully....
A chilling moment in a magnificient place.
Thank you Lady Mary.
Wonderful location, situated on a beautiful historic estate.
Old world charm, amazing building, interesting location.
The friendly staff and relaxing location.
accomodation in "old style", very nice.
The lady who greeted us in the car park was very polite and helped us with our room allocation. Her greeting was very welcoming.
Lovely fresh eggs were great for breakfast.
Reception was friendly and helpful. Free wi fi. Comfortable bed. Breakfast adequate. Very good for the price. Very interesting history.
The building and location is fantastic and worth seeing. As I was on a buisness trip I could not spend enough time to explore more.
Friendly staff and ambience.
Nice room, spacious.
Location, nice and quiet.
Location and early breakfast.
Spacious accommodation.
Nothing!.
It was difficult to find as it was not made clear that it was on the D'Evercy estate. If signposted on the road, it would have been a help.
it was also not clear that a cooked breakfast was included with our booking.
Having to leave!!
There was a security light burning outside our window all night (which was reassuring) but or the light sleeper (no pun intended) it was disconcerting - a blackout blind would be useful in rooms like this.
No sitting room area for family group of singles. I would prefer shower to roll top bath which must use loads of water to fill it.
Breakfast good but proper coffee would get me to go back on another visit. Your descriptive words(3) do not adequately describe this lovely property.
We loved it all.
Access to the Fat Pidgeon is via a private road so it can be a challenge
if you don't phone them to arrange entry.
The number of narrow stairs to the bedroom (but it was a very old stately home). Lack of small frig in room.
a bit hard to find ,sat nav got confused.
Little bit difficult to find- it's actually on the Brympton estate. Knowing this would have made finding it easier. Breakfast was fine, but there's nothing like a cooked breakfast when you're away from home. A fry up would elevate The Fat Pigeon from great to a gem.
Having to leave.
Self check-in, no-one there to greet guests.
Slight confusion of facilities available, eg. information in guests guide book in room.
there was nothing I didn't like about it.
Nothing.
Not so easy to find - a problem for SatNav!.
Nothing.
Lack of sound insulation, lack of consideration of some of the other guests, and limited Tv options.
Being on ground floor - since been rectified.
difficult to find even with GPS.
It's all just a bit odd. Self serve breakfast. Just loaves of bread on the side for everyone to get their hands in. Only one other couple in for breakfast, even so this meant the breakfast room was hard to negotiate to actually get to any breakfast. Queue to use egg machine. Tasteless muffins, nothing really exciting about breakfast didn't bother getting up the second day for breakfast, went elsewhere.
Old building and days I was staying in March frosty, so room cold. However there was an electric fire and hot water bottles both of which I used,
A little sign near the main gate would be a good idea - if one doesn't know where to go main gates off putting!.
No staff on site after 8pm. furnature is very basic ie TV on a bedside table in the middle of the room.Would be nice to have some leaflets on its history.
Quite remote (good if you want to get away from it all).
Poor reception for mobile phone.
The price, with particular regard to the breakfast. Poor value for money.
None refundable policy even though we had to cancel due to family illness, and the room was relet.
No hot water in the morning. Beds uncomfortable. Noise from neighbouring
room. Very basic breakfast nescafe only. The second bath towels that was
promised on arrival never materialised.
The approach, car park, reception by the cleaner, breakfast. 3 rooms one in manor because the cleaner only cleaned the rooms she wanted to.
