Grand Island Hotel is a distinctive Georgian building built on a headland commanding an impressive view over Ramsey Bay. Terraced lawns lead down to sandy beaches. The bedrooms are en-suite, attractively decorated and are very comfortable. There is a leisure club including an indoor pool and Jacuzzi.

the hotel had a special charm about it the staff were excellent and polite the room was excellent was very clean with excellent sea views the food was excellent would visit it again. The sea view. location, the views, pleasant efficient staff, relaxed atmoshere. the setting and location on the island. The sea front location, ambience of the hotel and helpfulness of staff.

Food, comfy beds, polite staff, service,cleanliness, location, view. Very good breakfast. Enjoyed the friendly welcome by the reception staff and the quality of the 'bar meals'. Room was warm (November visit).location. Breakfast was very good. The staff were efficient and the decor of the room good. If the rest of the hotel was to the same standard it would be highly rated.Exellent food and very friendly staff. Friendly/helpful staff and good food. The food and the waiters. Sea views were great and breakfast was pretty good too. Comfortable Bed. erm.... not a lot. Staff were friendly enough i suppose.This hotel closed down 12 months ago at the end of 2008. No atmosphere as there were very few guests in,sometimes a bit of a job to get attention at Reception. Nointernet - Did not know that Iwould have to bring my own modem!!. room was very warm. needs bringing into the 21 st century (decoration wise}. We were woken at 3.40 by someone shouting and hammering on the door of the next door!. It is sadly in need of refurbishment, but as they are about to knock it down to build appartments, I suppose they are not going to waste money doing it up,Very sad really as it a wonderful sight with great sea views, but in the Isle of Man developers rule the roost despite what the government or the population want, they get what they want, as money talks. Bedrooom windows rattled in wind, no telephone in one of our two rooms, only one wall light working in one of our rooms, bar closed at 10.30 on Sunday evening because it was empty. Building somewhat dilapidated but has charm.Walls very thin so rather noisy. Asked for high floor and was allocated 1st floor. The Hotel has enjoyed better times. We understood that it is scheduled to be demolished within 12 months. The whole ambiance was 'tired' and in need of refurbishment.slow service, inadequate room heating. The public areas are in need of a magor upgrade. Bedroom cold.Poor state of decor,draughty windows. External and internal condition and decor of 'common' parts left something to be desired - local residents suggest proprietor is letting the place 'run-down' pending redevlopment as appartments.The condition of the rooms and the carpets. Hotel is a bit run down, both outside and in. The receptionist on arrival was not very welcoming and the whole of downstairs smelt really smokey.Evening food was inedible, shower had mould along all of the corners, room wasn't cleaned properly. looked run down, room was cold - no heater control in room, although a small fan heater was supplied which smelled pretty bad while switched on. The bar food was appalling. The shower had 2 temperatures - a scalding trickle, or freezing cold if you wanted any reasonable flow. According to the locals, the hotel is being run down so it can be closed down and turned into flats.
