Ayre Hotel & Ayre Apartments - Photos
Ce que les gens disent
I have been visiting Orkney for the past 18 years and stayed in most of the hotels in Kirkwall, but for the past few years I have chosen the Ayre. Although Orkney is like going back in time - but only in a good way - this hotel offers very comfortable and spacious modern rooms and fine dining, using local produce which is always good. The staff are very friendly, efficient and accommodating. My stay is always a pleasure. tous commentaires »
The staff at the hotel were fantastic, the Orcadians must be the most friendliest people on the planet. The Hotel was immaculate, and in the heart of Kirkwall, they went out of their way to help us.
Mrs. Elaine Garrioch the lady at front desk, she is smile all the time, very nice and friendly, understand and very helpful to customers.
Restaurant and Bar the staff also nice too.
Staff are very helpfull, nothing is too much trouble. Early breakfast was accommodated with no problems. Room very clean and tidy with plenty of space. Good facilities all round.
The location of this hotel is fantastic. One minutes walk to the seaside, five minutes walk to the town centre. Very clean. And staffs are very friendly. Food is good as well.
I really liked the staff and the owner Lyle was very friendly and made sure you had a pleasant stay.

Very friendly staff at reception. Room good for space, clean and tidy. Nice interior decor. Restaurant is of good quality as well, both for breakfast and normal meals.
2 mins walk from the bus station
Modern, comfy bedrooms
Plenty of hot water: bath and shower
Excellent bedside lighting
Bay view from the front rooms
Friendly staff.
The bedroom was spotlessly clean as was the en suite. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast good from a vegetarian perspective.
Great base for exploring the various Neolithic and more recent historical sites, not to mention the natural beauty of the islands.

Central location in Kirkwall.
Can't fault this hotel.
going home.
A little bit expensive.
There wasn't anything I didn't like about my stay or with the hotel.
Restaurant and bar staff not very friendly.
The DIY toaster doesn't really toast
Not the hotel's fault but the loss of BBC Radio to BBC Alba at 5pm (on a non Gaelic speaking island) was a bit ironic.
A lift would have been useful to us.
Rooms/facilities are perhaps a bit on the large side for someone traveling alone.
Bathroom a bit basic. Shower pressure poor.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
In the process of renovations with minor disruptions.
view (to the next building's wall, 2meters away).
Nothing.
wifi in room was a problem.
nothing.
no fridge.
N/a.
noisy late at night and very expensive.
Walking outside to get to our room. The weather was kind on our visit but this crossing would not have been too good against the Orkney rain and wind.
Room was up two floors but they were actually putting a lift in while we were there, so next time it will be fine ! Bathroom a bit cramped and a fixed showerhead without flexibility.
Bar was awful and very little other public space.
Over priced and ridiculously early check out time of 10am.
Unfriendly service in the restaurant.
The room for a superior was very small.
TV was too small
Food was very mediocre, would eat elsewhere.
Internet was slow
No gym or pool.
Room was freezing! No heating on at all even though it was blowing a
gale outside. I also had to request an iron which was left outside my
door, but thought they could have knocked to let me know it was there.
Either the bed wasn't made properly or the sheet didn't fit the
bed, because it wasn't tucked in on one side.
Resturant breakfast very poor.
Stayed over a weekend, think they have weekend staff. Poor that we did not attempt an evening meal.
Lounge facilities - poor, settees in a corridor.
Room make up - again not brilliant - weekend staff?.
Serves as a party/functions venue loud music into the early hours of the morning, Not for light/medium sleepers. People running up and down the corridors at night. Pranksters set fire alarm off at 3am in the morning. woke in the morning very tired and fatigued. Reception indifferent to problems no reduction in high room price.
