The location was a short walk away from the beach and town centre and had helpful staff.
the cleanliness and the homely feel,the breakfast,although did'nt offer cooked breakfast,still gave a wide selection.
guests being able to come and go all night,made it a bit noisy!
It was very clean, near to the beach and the town centre, also near to many restaurants.
These was no shower and ironing facilities and breackfast serving finished too early.
It was much better than I had anticipated having read some of the previous reviews. I found the owner to be very helpful about the area. She was able to give advice and answer our questions. Having a car park was an advantage as I did not know the area, but it was rather difficult to manoeuvre into the spaces. I would stay there again.
The breakfast was good; it was not served too early and you could help yourself. We stayed in a non en-suite room but the shower in the hall was clean, as were the toilets.
No, I liked it. In August 2006, we stayed in the Shirley Hotel which is situated next door to the Newbury and I could smell stale cigarette smoke in the room- none of this at the Newbury though!

Our room ( twin bedded) seemed a little small and would be best described ,in our opinion as a single.We would also suggest that the coloured pillow cases had not been washed prior to our stay.When booking we were informed about of the " pay up front " policy which we adhered to but even so , we don't like the idea of assuming everyone is a potential non payer.No b/fast times posted in room.
