  This was a very nice "Hotel Garni" on the outskirts of Essen. It was surrounded by nice countryside, an equestrian center, tennis courts, and a nearby river. I was there for a convention at the Messe, and it's a very pleasant 5 mile drive to the convention center.   Well having spent two nights in this hotel, one on the Saturday going to Berlin and one on the Friday coming home, all I can say is 'WOW". I thought that it would have been very difficult to improve on my first visit to this lovely hotel. But it was indeed better. But also, I made a comment about not having coffee in our room on our first visit. And sure enough, there was a brand sp - We loved Hotel Landhaud Knappmann. The hotel and staff was excellent. We traveled with our 11 month old son and they were very accommodating. The breakfast that is included with your room is something to see. The restaurant attached to the hotel is wonderful was well, there was no need for us to leave the hotel to find a place to eat. The hotel is wonderfully located down the street from a grocery store, bakery, And atm.
