  This was by far the best hotel we have found in San Diego. Luxury for a very reasonable price! The staff was wonderful, our room was fantastic, (corner king), the food was good (pulled pork was best I've had in ages!), and the views were gorgeous. I loved how close it was to so many areas of SD. The pool area (with the firepits at night!) looked wonderful, but it was so windy so we didn't stay. I also loved the old pictures throughout the hotel. If you are from SD it was particularly super to see them.

  Loved our stay. We live only about 30 mins. north of San Diego and try to stay at the West Gate at least twice a year. It is like being on a vacation even though we are residents. We loved our stay. Bell staff and concierge staff very friendly and helpful - Nice clean facility.   The size of this resort hotel was much larger than I expected with a lot of nice amenities (restaurants, etc.) on grounds that we did not use (but would in the future). Our room was nice, comfortable, and clean. I thought the room & hotel were nicely decorated, other than the creepy doll painting in our room (landscape is better, no eyes). And so beautiful! We lived in a room with to large queen size. It was very spacious and a bit old fashioned. But in a good way. It was close to a big mall, which we really approved. We didn't have breakfast included, but there is a nice café in the area (the hotel is in a very big area and has a lot of rooms all over the place) that had good sandwiches and Starbuck coffee.

  I simply loved the Gaslamp Quarter location which made it convient for going to the convention center for my meetings, shopping in between sessions, and lots of variety when deciding on where to dine in the evening.
