  The staff was the nicest group of people I have ever encountered in a hotel. Every single one of them went so far beyond the norm to ensure our stay was not just pleasant, but unforgettable. I was given a birthday hamper the moment they found out about the special occasion and we were also upgraded to a suite. Our suite, breakfast, swims and location were beyond excellent also but this was, simp - Great stay, very impressed upon arrival, stayed impressed entire stay. Excellent staff, especially the breakfast staff helping my elderly mom get her meal and seating. The place was great and the staff even better. Home run!!! Thank you!

  Top stay for us in DC. Have been a number of times due to college student visits. This is the best hotel yet- in town for college graduation and all the hotel prices were very high. HGI was the best rate BUT also had great service and quiet room. Ideal location within a block of the red line metro- very easy to get around. The room was spacious and very clean and the hotel provided food facilities as well as pool/gym facilities. Now I look for Hilton Garden Inn hotels whenever I'm out of town and in need of a hotel!

  The area is not bad at all! There is construction, but you can tell it is an up & coming area! If you use 200 Florida ave ne you will get to the hotel no problem. As far as "sketchy" people in the area I will say this, there is a mix of people in the area & there are pan handlers all over dc, even by the White House. I'm very - Great hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Gym open 24/7. Bistro serving decent food/drink (a bar and serving Starbucks coffee) that you can eat in, take out or take up to the room. Location was excellent, walkable distance from Union Station and right next to the NoMa–Gallaudet metro station on the red line, linking straight to the Zoo or just one transfer to get to L'Enfant Plaza station (buses to Dulles airport) and a transfer from Smithsonian and the Mall. Good choice of restaurants a few minutes' walk away.
