  Better than the Belvedere! I visit NY all the time and usually stay in 4 star hotels, sometimes 5. I was a little worried about the Gem, but decided I should try it out. Best decision I made. The place is a gem.   I loved the rooftop bar! It has a beautiful view of Madison Square Garden and then the world trade towers in the distance. The rooms and hotel were clean and filled with friendly staff and guests.   The apartment was in a stellar location conv to everything Manhattan, Time Square, Shopping, food, subway. Was very private apartment big enough for the group of four and maybe two more. All amenities were provided including toliet paper, glasses, plates, dish washer, stove everything. Value was great for a two night stay. Will visit again.

  Have to admit I was a little anxious about whether this was a good choice, but it turned out to be perfect! Apt was very clean and newly updated (nice tile, hardwood, cabinets). Seemed very secure.   Room was spacious, well equipped and very clean. Unusual to see hard surface floors in the room, but made me feel better about cleanliness, potential bug issues.   They do not have elevator, the internet is only in the lobby and the breakfast is too simple, but almost all of this are cited in the hotel description. So, I recomend this hotel because it was exactly I expected. My bad grade to the cleaness was because of the bathrooms.   This was a fantastic hotel for a nyc break. 10 minutes from time square and just down the road from Hell's Kitchen Flea Market at the weekend (a must visit). The kitchen comes with pots, pans, and storage dishes so we could cook in some nights and save a bit of money. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  Excellent location,close to all major attractions in New York in fact within walking distances.Clean rooms and clean beds with neat linens.In fact when I wanted to change the room allotted to me which did not have a locker to one which had,they did it immediately. Throughout the day free coffee and tea is available in the lobby. The fitness is relatively small but good, with new equipment (2 tredmills, 1 cross trainer, a bike and some weights). Although our room was almost next to the elevator, it didn't bother us. There are only 6 rooms per floor, which limits the traffic.
