The pool is great - at times (weekend afternoons when the sun is out) it is quite a "scene" which might annoy someone looking to relax but it is what it is (and at other times it is very relaxing). The restaurants are very good and the rooftop bar/club PHD is great on a Saturday (although be aware that it is run separately from the hotel so after 11 or so, being a hotel guest does not guarantee access).   The staff were just excellent. Requests were responded to immediately, and the bellmen were wonderful. On several occasions they and the concierge gave us great advice about transportation, places to eat, and things to do, and they always were smiling and friendly. The room was very quiet. It was in a great location, walking distance from the shops on 5th avenue, Time Square ( if you don't mind walking 30 minutes), Madison Square garden, Megabus/Bolt drop off and pick up locations, PENN Station and literally seconds away from subway/Train station. The live band downstairs was great (besides the fact that we could hear it in our room the first night).

  The hotel was very cool and trendy, exactly what we were looking for in a boutique experience. The staff was extremely friendly, and helpful. The lobby bar at night was definitely the place to be, lots of young people and great music, the bartenders were fun and not overwhelmed at all by the amount of people there. When we did have a problem it was fixed quickly. The room was excellent and very clean. The hotel was always buzzing and had a great atmosphere. The hotel location was excellent, not far from Time Square, Penn Station round the corner from the Empire State Building and only a couple of blocks from the subway to get to the rest of New York.
