This 18th-century coaching inn is perched on a hill overlooking Ullswater, the second largest lake in the Lake District National Park. It offers free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. A buffet breakfast is provided each morning at The Brackenrigg, and delicious Cumbrian cuisine is served for lunch and evening meals. Food is freshly prepared and made from local ingredients. Rooms at Brackenrigg Inn are traditionally furnished and come with a TV and facilities for making tea and coffee. Each has its own bathroom, and some rooms also have picturesque views of the lake. You can enjoy scenic walks in the surrounding parkland, and Soulby is 2 miles from the building. Penrith can be reached in 15 minutes by car, and Keswick is a 25-minute drive away.

Inexpensive and good value for the area. The inn has a very impressive vista of the lake below. The rooms on the front side overlook the lake, and the back rooms overlook the hills. The rooms are very clean, and everything worked in my room and en suite bathroom. The pub and restaurant are on the lower floor, and the food is good and fairly priced. I found no noise carryover from the pub/restaurant to my room. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent.
kaikki arvostelut » Perfect location for us, we had no car and it was fine (taxi from train station was about £20 I think). Wonderful walking route from near the hotel to Aira Force. Also, the bus stop is right outside the hotel (but check the timetable, its not very frequent!). Breakfast was great! Lovely hotel bar to hang out in the evening. Very friendly and welcoming staff at a venue situated in a beautiful location. The evening meal was very good and the service complimented that. The breakfast service and menu also surpassed my expectations bearing in mind the very reasonable cost of staying. Very friendly Inn in delightful surrounds. Staff very helpful as shown when I needed to add an extra night at the last minute - I was able to stay in my current room. Plenty of space for parking. Excellent food. Lovely spacious room. The service was exceptional and the food brilliant. The warm fire and friendly atmosphere and beautiful views are well worth a visit. No detail in room or from staff as how to connect to advertised free wifi. I only managed to stay one night. Food although good it was a little expensive. Toilet in room would not flush Very limited evening menu High price of drinks and wine A degree in electrical engineering was required to get programmes on TV. Nothing. We had booked a "superior double room" but it was very basic. The bathroom was tiny, and there was nowhere to hang up towels. The first night the room and the bed felt cold. A little close to the road. The room was very cold .. shower room /toilet was v small... I could possibly say that rooms were a little basic although at the price they were fine!. The bleating sheep during the night from the field next door. It is actually a positive as that is how quiet the area is. Nothing. nothing. Beer a bit expensive. I pick quail from the menu I'm not sure I would do that again as I was still hungry and a lot of effort for very little meat. Taste waste good though. As a business traveller the breakfast time was too late. Being disabled it was difficult to go up and down the stairs with the banister only on one side. It was a struggle getting in and out of the shower as the door only opened partially because it was against the sink. No hot water in my room - not a problem for myself but I'm sure not to everyone's taste!. the room was cold. Room a bit small. Nothing. The view from the room was breathtaking, but the decor of the room was a bit tired and could do with revamping. The gents public toilet was disgusting and needs sorting ASAP. Stairs. Cramped single room (but I did buy the cheapest deal!). Bathroom so small could not turn round in it. Our en-suite shower room was tiny and perhaps larger guests would have struggled!.
