Situated in Totland Bay on the Isle of Wight, this award-winning guest house offers free Wi-Fi in all areas and benefits from free private parking on site. A charming Victorian villa, it is just 100 metres from the beach. In the mornings, breakfast dishes are served in the bright dining room, alongside a continental buffet. The dishes are cooked to order and include Eggs Benedict, croissant sandwich, smoked salmon, kipper fillets, and locally baked ham, along with the traditional full English grilled breakfast. Rooms at Sentry Mead are traditionally furnished, and each benefits from a flat-screen TV and a bathroom with free toiletries and bathrobes. Many also have picturesque views. There is cycle storage on site for those wishing to bring their bikes, and a dog-friendly section of beach opposite the building. Freshwater Bay Golf Course is a 5-minute drive away.

It was wonderful. The place itself was perfect, and it is run by the most accommodating, friendly couple (and their young boy, who proudly showed us to our room). Notably, having always felt imposing in family-run establishments, I found it refreshing to feel such a combination of privacy and service as I experienced at Sentry Mead. Most of all though, it's the place with the shortest walk to the sea in the area, and walking up the coastal road footpath to see the sunset is something you're lia.
kaikki arvostelut » This was a second visit because we loved it so much the first time. Location is wonderful - quiet and peaceful with the lovely uncrowded beach at Totland easily accessible. Easy to get the bus from Yarmouth and to travel round the island. The hotel is extremely comfortable, rooms are spacious and clean, breakfasts are delicious - the best poached eggs ever- and the staff could not be more pleasant and helpful. Definitely the best of the many hotels we have stayed in on the Isle of Wight. W. I entered 'Sentry Mead' Totland Bay to be welcomed by members of the family. The establishment is very clean, comfortable and excellent value. I found the family welcoming and as a single traveller I felt safe. My room was comfortably furnished with everything I would need including tea and coffee making facilities.Nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly recommend this venue to any one wishing to have a comfortable and relaxed time. The beach is a few metres away. The staff were the perfect hosts and there to accommodate your every need.The house was beautiful with spacious lounge and dining room. The gardens were beautiful and the room was very spacious with all you needed including a tea/ coffee making tray. It was only a few minuets walk to the beach nod although there is a need for some work done along the promenade it was still the perfect place to stay. We would certainly stay there again. Was a lovely friendly welcome. Shown to room. Room was so lovely, nice decor, bed was very comfortable, clean bedding daily,bathroom facilities excellent plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very tasty, plenty of choice, nice dinning room, staff very accomadating to your needs. Tea/coffee in room,replenished daily.plenty of psrking if required.Overall a wonderful stay. Will certainly return and recommend. Everything really. We were made very welcome and the room was comfortable and very clean. The location is very good if you want to visit the Needles and Yarmouth with its restaurants is only about 10 mins away. Try "Salties" the fish is excellent and the ambiance "formidable !" If we return to the I.O.W. we shall certainly return to these lodgings. Merci beaucoup (the boss is French) !. The hotel is very conveniently located for access to Yarmouth and Freshwater. We had a very warm and friendly welcome from Sarah, the accommodation is attractive, clean and comfortable. The quality and choices for breakfast was excellent, nothing was too much trouble for Bridget and her team. The evening meals were of gourmet standard, absolutely NO COMPLAINTS.A real home from home. The owners were lovely and very welcoming. Because of the heat, a fan was very kindly provided which was a god send! Lovely garden & patio area, with added bonus of teas, coffees & pastries provided early evening. Very informative joining pack on local areas to visit & to eat. Breakfast was delicious & lots to choose from. Would definitely stay again. The hotel was very pleasant inside in a traditional style and our room was absolutely lovely; large with a very comfortable bed and a view of the sea. One of the windows was opposite the bed and during a storm overnight it was fantastic to snuggle under the fat duvet and hear the wind howling outside. The french owner was very welcoming and helpful. The location was top notch – the sea front was across the road and it was a short drive from the needles. The owners were friendly and overly accommodating. The (Alum) room was brilliant. The included breakfast was excellent and the grounds were lovely to stroll around and relax in on an afternoon. The setting of the hotel is delightful and quiet, and on arrival the host was very informative and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the extensive breakfast menu was a pleasant way to start the day. In fact we stayed an extra night, it was such a great experience. Um, I guess it was difficult to find better-than-kebab food in the area after 10:30, but I suppose that's our fault now isn't it. Can't fault it !. Nothing.. I could not fault Sentry Mead. Don't really think i could fault the Sentry Mead. Nothing. The food was not up to the standard of the facilities. There was nothing terribly wrong with it, just very average; an overcooked steak, a dry piece of salmon with too much flavourless salad. Breakfast was better although I prefer unsalted butter and really good strong coffee which I didn't get. However I am particular about food and some people would not have minded. To be very picky: the well-used stairway could do with a bit of cheering up. This is a suggestion for improvement and was not of major importance to us. Sure that the owners have it in mind anyway as their high standards are obvious.. There could have been a larger suitcase bench in the room for easier access, and there was no small fridge to keep beverages cold. Also, there was no fresh milk supplied although this could be requested. Totland is a bit of a nonentity, and the sea-front and pier area very decrepit and sad, but there is easy access to lovely walks and other areas. The room wasn't very warm (it was a particularly cold weekend) but the hotel room comes with an electric heater. Good size room but small shower room (although I have seen smaller!). The lady that serves the meals (Sarah?) is a bit stressed and it did not match with the relaxing environment of the hotel. It would have been nicer if she looked less rushed. No customer was in a hurry!. The horrible cold wind! But that was general in Europe at that time and had nothing to do with the hotel. Absolutely nothing. The weather!!!!. Our bedroom (the last one available) could have been a tad larger. Water pressure on the top floor a tad suspect, so the shower was affected when the next door room used water, but this is a very minor problem, of which the hotel is aware. Nothing to reproach. Nothing. Nothing. Only fault shower did not have much pressure. The stairs to second floor.l. The stairs. We are very satisfied and consequently nothing negative to mention. low water pressure in the room. The shower was a bit variable due to water pressure varying with other users (2nd floor). Coffee was not hot enough. Water pressure for shower. We wanted to stay in for dinner, there was only one portion of soup and no one else had ordered, limited menu. The room could have been slightly bigger. Newspapers would have been very appreciated. n/a. nothing. The shower water pressure was low. The owners are trying to sort this however.
