  Having read previous reviews we were not disappointed by what we found when we arrived. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, a credit to the hotel! The place itself was clean bright relaxing and comfortable. Breakfast was good once we had mastered the toaster! The pool and spa area was great too, so you must check this out. Thank you to all the staff! - Bed mega comfortable, towels lovely, clean and hotel lovely design, surroundings and staff, friendly and very relaxed atmosphere. Good food.   The location of the hotel was convenient to where I had to be the next day for a conference. I loved the site - by the river with wonderful views (especially at night), The hotel building was lovely - very attractive/welcoming exterior, wonderful interior design - very different and homely at the same time. My room on the 7th floor was wonderful - beautifully and thoughtfully furnishe - Every hotel has it's own personality but share a common set of standards and values... all very high. I like the wine list... Manchester had a special wine list which I would have liked to see in Newcastle. Young but not 'trendy'. The staff seem happy to be there!

  If there was an option to give the staff more than a 5 + rating then I would. Thouroughly enjoyed my long weekend here and the staff were remarkably helpful and pleasant. I would hope this gets back to them and they can be commended for this. Lucia was fantastic and if she is not the Duty Manager then she should be ! Also a big thumbs up to the young blonde haired gentleman porter type chap who was v - This is a really special hotel. We really loved the quirky modern design. Everything was top notch. The staff were super friendly. Because we were kept waiting for a few minutes when we were checking in we were sent to our room with a bottle of champagne. The room was large and bright and decor interesting. Good free wifi - the kitchenette and 2 TVs were an unexpected bonus. (Would love to come back when the strip fire all along the front window of the hotel is alight in the cold weather.)

  We were given a great welcome by a delightful Spanish employee and as we were keen to see the Tour of Britain cycle race stage finish in Gateshead he allocated us a room with a view - we were very grateful.The dining room staff at breakfast set a high standard of service.
