Location was central only yards from York Minster. Staff were extremely helpful and it was excellent. Would certainly recommend. We had a fantastic time and are definitely going back. The owners are brilliant and went out if their way to help and friendly. 10 out of 10 from me

Although I have ticked city trip, because that is what we did in York, The Lamb & Lion comes under a different description. It has lots of character. We stayed in the Attic, it was beautiful. Really comfortable. Brilliant being in the middle of York, parked in Marygate carpark and didn't go back until we left. Staff lovely, left the phone charger in the room when we left, Manager posted it back to me next day, no problem. Breakfast delightful. Would definitely go back.

The garden is beautiful, with ruins and lovely flowers, and big enough for guests (and their guests) to sit in the sun without being on top of each other. Marmadukes is a fabulous hotel. We have been coming here annually since 2006 and have stayed in most of the room styles. However, this latest trip was particularly memorable as we received a free upgrade on arrival to the York Suite. It was stunning. And to think we had the whole of the suite for the same price as our original booking was a great touch. Staff at the hotel are lovely - friendly, accomodating and always on hand to offer advice or book a taxi. Location is ideal, in a leafy street

I stayed here with my mother who is 71 for a shopping weekend. We had a family room that was lovely.
First class B&B. Lovely genuine and friendly hosts. We can honestly say the breakfast was the best we have ever had in any B&B or hotel.Very very clean and comfortable rooms, hosts were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended !!!!! Easy 5 stars *****

Our first experience of a hostel ever & we have nothing but positive comments to give!! This is a hotel without the extras (I.e doesnt have a hairdryer/towels & a tv on the wall), other than that it does exactly what it says on the tin!! Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent value for money all round!!) Would definitely stay here again!
