This small, private hotel is situated in the Kingdom of Fife, a 5-minute drive from Kirkcaldy. There is free Wi-Fi and free parking on site, and a restaurant where delicious homemade food is cooked using local ingredients. Edinburgh is 28 miles away. Each room at Royal Hotel is cosy and traditionally furnished, and benefits from a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Some have an en suite bathroom, and others have shared bathroom facilities – but all guests can enjoy free toiletries and a hairdryer. Royal Hotel is just over a mile from Kirkcaldy Harbour, which dates back to the 1450s. A number of pretty fishing villages are nearby, and the striking Dunfermline Abbey can be reached in 30 minutes’ drive. The hotels is located on the main coastal route from Edinburgh to St Andrews.

Royal Hotel was great value for money;building old inn/hotel and interesting;old Dysart close-by and iconic. Staff helpful and friendly,free wi-fi. Good selection of menues for breakfast lunch andsupper-great diversity. I particularly enjoyed the full cooked scottish breakfast-it was fantastic. Iwould definitely not hesitae to stay again and would reccomend to others as a great place to stay.

It has great potential to be a very good Hotel with some money for refurbishing. Would stay again and hope others do to make this happen for them. i needed a bed for the night at short notice the value was brillant,lovely cosy room,shower in the morning,lovely lady on reception,and the chef and breakfast in the morning,excellent,set me up for the rest of the day. The meals were exceptionally good and they were very good value for money. I liked where the hotel was situated and within walking distance to some of the parks, beach, walks and shops. This hotel is located with a beautiful view on mountines and lake. Kitchen was very delicious as well and everybody was very friendly. I can just recommend stay there. They'd thought of small details like liquid soap, body lotion, cotton wool, etc. There was plenty of extra bedding and biscuits with the tea making facilities!. Some very nice touches in the room, lotions, body spray, decor etc. Meals very good. excellent visit and staff were very friendly,and meals were of a high quality. the staff and food were super the room was comfortable thanks a lot. loved the food a1 cleanliness staff great beds comfy price awsome. Free parking, internet and a very good breakfast!. Close to where I needed to be. When we left. The cleaning lady, nice smile. the breakfast. Hotel could use some upgrades, like all new carpeting, as it has been well used and looks old. Being old and worn it looks dirty, but it is not because the place is very clean. Outside building needs to have the paint scraped and taken back to the brick. Great potential. Not much to dislike about the hotel. The electric sockets seemed overloaded. The ironing board etc. standing in the hallway and it was all a bit dark but perfect enough for one night when passing through. Found the bed rather uncomfortable. Our room had a double and a single. I switched to the single but mattress also a bit lumpy. a little out of the way and mobile access difficult. looks grubby from outside but once inside it was totaly stunning recommend it to freinds :o). Nothing I can think of. No phone, no wi fi although we understand this wasnt hotels fault. It's a very old hotel, even if kept quite clean there's smell of old stuff everywhere, old painting, carpets...sometimes with spider-nets on the roof. But still a good value for money you pay!. Poor value for money and misleading information in description, tv in room never worked and no wifi in room. Poor customer service, Dirty rooms, 3 of us got bad bites from the beds. Childs bed shoved up against the radiator ( very unsafe) cups in room dirty. Dropped keys off at reception when we went to take a walk, they were still on counter. When we booked on line we were told they weren't goingto take money from card,just to pay on departure. They took full pay with out permission. Will not use this site or hotel again. Those dirty net curtains, those cheap plasic flowers all over the hotel need to be washed or ditched!! yes the hotel is old but with a little common sense and very little money you could do something about the decor. the location(on a main road) no double glazing, needed some modernisation. Old sash windows that wouldn't properly close with tissue paper used unsuccessfully to bung up the gap and as on a very busy bus route, very noisy. Hotel was very very tired with furntiture, wall coverings and carpets / lino in very bad condition. All topped off with a deep fried breakfast in the morning. Probably great in 1975, but not now.
