We have just returned from a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend at the Blacksmiths Country Inn. An exquisite 'get away from it all' Hotel situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty..pefectly located to access some of North Yorkshires finest scenery. The grounds and the hotel itself are immaculately kept. We had the garden rooms with patio which were quite simply idyllic, impeccably clean, fresh and decorated to a very high standard. The breakfasts and evening meals, and the dining areas were.

Even though it was our first visit, they all made you feel like old friends.The food was delicious - just what I was expecting from the website. We had a standard room with loads of drawer and hanging space for clothes. The bathroom was warm and cosy; with very hot water and the hand-held, over the bath shower worked well for a couple like us where one likes to bathe and the other to shower! As we were leaving, the owner showed us the del. I can't say enough good things about this place; the owners were involved and quite personable, the staff were keen to please, chatty, and willing to drop everything to simply help out. Everyone had a good knowledge of the local area. The surroundings/views were excellent, with easy access to several walks, and quick driving distance to more distant venues. The food is first rate, right down to the good old fashioned strong coffee served up in the mornings. Probably the best inn we've staye. We have just spent a weekend at this excellent perfectly located Inn. It was first rate with unrivalled accommodation (our room was spotless), breakfasts and evening meals. What a superb chef they have. The staff were willing, friendly, agreeable, courteous, eager to please and complaisant- so a first class service was given. A special mention to the owner Howard who was a super host. We are joyfully returning in September and bringing with us eight more family members. We readily recommend thi. The service was fantastic - not just the owners but the whole team - friendly and welcoming and prompt. The food was delicious. Really good value for money The refurbishment is modern and tasteful Our bedroom was kept beautifully, serviced every day. Hartoft End is a great jumping off point to explore the moors and beautiful villages of the area. There is so much history in this region. We had a wonderful time. Quiet hotel but plenty of space and room to stretch out, both in the rooms and the bars etc. We had a garden room which was very spacious, lots of storage space and good sized en-suite. Access to garden and chairs to sit out was a bonus in the afternoon. Bar was very comfortable with very good staff. Restaurant had a really good menu and the food was excellent. Overall we would recommend. Very friendly and chatty staff, always willing to assist if required. Bed in room 14 was ultra comfortable, the food at the evening was excellent, and the real ale was well kept and went down well. Lovely part of the country, especially with a bit of snow on the ground, and some good walking in the immediate area. Total peace and quiet. Away from everything. Bliss. If you want to get away from your phone good place me and my wife got no signal. It was great. The rooms were very adequate and quiet even tho the inn was quite full. Meals was very nice too. Decent breakfast but if you like it golden brown ask for it. Very peaceful and secluded setting but just 15 minutes from Pickering. Garden Rooms are very spacious and open out to surrounding woodland. Room and ensuite were well equipped and immaculate. Restaurant serves excellent meals. Bar was cosy and welcoming. All staff were very friendly and helpful. All the staff were friendly and very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel and accommodation was very clean. An excellent place to stay for a relaxing break.well situated for country walks and coastal drives, Would recommend to friends and would visit again. We had an great stay at the Blacksmiths Country Inn, the hotel staff were so welcoming and friendly they couldn't do enough for you. The food and location were also excellent. Log fires, and a good selection of wines and beers made a long day out in the cold all worthwhile. We enjoyed our stay very much in this hotel. A clean, comfortable hotel with a light airy room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent with a wide choice in the restaurant. The countryside is beautiful and the location, away from towns is very quiet. We rang to say we were going to be late checking in and Sam who we dealt with was excellent and made sure that we could still arrive late at night . If you like walking this inn is in a perfect position plenty of countryside to choose from.Very peaceful. The staff go out of there way to make your stay comfortable. The food was amazing, we ate there both nights of our stay and as we were a party of six we tried many dishes....all were 10 out of 10. The place is in an ideal place to explore the moors. The restaurant is excellent and it is nice to sit in the bar in the evening. Breakfast is also excellent and the staff are very friendly. Having to leave and go home!!. Too short a stay!. we loved everything. Our shower (Room 20) could have been updated to provide more power. Room was clean and comfortable, but not sure about the open clothes hanging rail rather than a proper wardrobe. And the electric shower was a bit weak in the water flow department. Everything was perfect. Nothing. The bathroom was a little dated, but was clean and well maintained. Nothing....... Nothing. N/A. Leaving. Hard to find a negative, but if there was one it would be that the shower wasn't great. the staff seemed a bit young and inexperienced to cope in the restaurant at night. The hotel was full so we weren't in the best rooms...but even these were comfortable and clean....next time we will try to stay in the better rooms...this is not a complaint, just a comment. Nothing. Nothing. The shower was not very good, constantly turned could when we converted the bath tap to the shower and water came out cold, in the end we resorted to having a bath, if you are not in a rush it's fine but if you are could be a problem. nothing to dislike, but no mobile reception as with most of the area away from the towns. Nothing. Mixer shower in bathroom. I wouldn't particularly say there was anything I didn't like only to say it was off the beaten track but then I was aware of this when I booked but you would certainly need a car to access the Inn as there appeared to be no bus service. One other thing there was no mobile phone signal but that is not a complaint just an observation. The room temperature was difficult to regulate. The fact that you could hear the occupants of the room next door in their bathroom. nothing. The shower was very poor. Nothing to not like as long as you don't mind being in the back of beyond or the middle of nowhere. Nothing to dislike. That we couldn't stay for dinner as we were at a party and had no idea it was such an idyllic location. You couldn't get any phone reception at the hotel. No hot water in room on arrival. Poor fare in restaurant for main meals. dated room green bathroom and carpet in bathroom needs net curtains because windows outlook on to road and carpark. Can't think of any. Could have done with a small table to put drinks on near the chairs. The curtains could do with blackout linings as too much light in room early morning, and trim on dressing table not good as caught legs on it when getting up. Nothing too serious just down to what we like.
