Isabel and Philip's hospitality was outstanding, we felt so welcome and at home in this very clean and pleasant B&B. The breakfast was outstanding- cooked for us freshly as we wished. The room was fresh, well decorated and pleasant. The room & ensuite bathroom (and general surroundings) were clean, the bed was soft & comfortable and it was absolutely roasting in the room when we arrived (never a bad thing!). Both Isabell and Phillip were lovely hosts..they were made for running a B&B. Breakfast was served fresh on our plates each morning. Conveniently located just across the road from Gretna Green station for those using trains, and about a 10 minute walk to the Famous Blacksmith's Shop.
I could find no fault with this b & B. It's an absolute gem of a place. Isabelle and Philip were warm, friendly and very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was bright, airy, very clean and very comfortable. The cooked breakfast was lovely, ample portions and set us up nicely for the day. It was a pleasure to stay there and we are looking forward to going back sometime.
Fernlea B&B is a delightful property with a lovely and thoughtful host who understands great service while allowing privacy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable and furnished in good taste, with attention to detail. We felt really well looked after and would highly recommend this property. It was close to Hadrians Wall as well as the Lakes District.
I only booked my room the night before in order to break up my journey south. Fernlea is not far from the Motorway and very easy to find. I could not have been made more welcome, my room was clean bright and very comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful. I could not fault anything other than I could only stay the one night. I will certainly stay again.
Isabelle is a perfect hostess and made us feel very comfortable.
Fernlea is a small B&B, only 2 rooms from what I could tell, and has a nice cozy, friendly feel that larger places wouldn't have.
We had the room with the larger En Suite with bath tub, which made my wife happy, a hot bath after a day traveling is very welcome.
We were staying in Gretna overnight to attend a wedding and we couldn't have asked for better accommodation. Isabelle was very warm, friendly and welcoming. The room was clean comfortable and spacious and we both slept well. We had a delicious hearty breakfast before we left, just the ticket before a day in The Lakes.
The owners were superb clean and comfortable accommandation nothing too much trouble and the advice about eating out places was great their knowledge of all the resturants made sure we knew exactly where to go .Will recommend this B&B to any one who is going to Scotland.
Friendly, Value, Helpful, Parking. Close to Gretna Green where you can still get married over "The Anvil" and Gretna (Centre). Close to a retail Outlet (for those who like a bargain). Room was not immense, but this was partly due the large bathroom that had been integrated into it. Good breakfast.
The Landlord is so nice, the lady and her husband took good care of us. Especially the next day, gave us a free lift to the town in a heavy rain. The breakfast is perfect, the rooms are clean and cozy.. The most surprising thing is the history of this house! Worth staying! Do recommend!.
Warm and friendly establishment ran by the most accommodating of couples. Everything you needed and they seemed intent on making sure we could not move after breakfast by offering more food. The room and en-suite were a nice size and very comfortable. An enjoyable overnight stay.
