1. Simple old fashioned coaching inn with "Ghostly" history. To be fair, we arrived were attending a party nearby, had B/Fast next morning and left so didn't make use of the pub etc. The staff were fine and there had been a slight mix up over booking B/Fast however the owner really went out of his way to sort us out. B/Fast was one of the best we'd had in a long time staying at a venue. Well done.
kaikki arvostelut » Very friendly staff with good food. The breakfast was delicious but beware of the portion size (huge). The coaching inn is in the centre of Devizes. Ask to see the cellars as they were part of a tunnel system that ran all around Devizes in the old days. Room No. 4 is said to be one of the most haunted in England. I've stayed Here several times and its handy for central Devizes right in the centre with parking. The Pub is very old and has lots of character The Beer & food are excellent. I didn't have a problem with the hotel itself other than it's tired and needs updating, staff were friendly, food good, was very clean. Breakfast was good, bed was comfortable. The staff,location,food and the general environment -plus a fantastic bed.Dan gives you a great welcome and provided me with good local information. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Great food and beer. Good atmosphere and a central location. We stayed mid-week and it was very quiet. Staff and owners were very attentive. We had a great time for what we were looking for. The ghost made his presents known. Very clean, comfortable ,staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. WILL be staying again..... Location and friendly staff. Rooms were very clean and comfortable and the shower so powerful it stung!. The central location was convenient to us. The motorcycle parking was out the way and secure. It is sited in town centre near the market and shops. Central town location. Decent breakfast. Rooms had adequately facilities, if a little shabby. Good breakfast. In town centre. Good location. The breakfast was massive with 2 of everything so we asked for some alu foil and took half of it for later. Not me personally But if you are infirm or disabled you may find the steps up to the rooms difficult. I'm actually a builder by trade and i don't think it would cost a lot to give this hotel a facelift and make it an excellent place to stay. I just could not get the radiator in Room 4 to work. The place is a little shabby and tired. The stairs the to guest rooms are difficult to negotiate with large cases. N/A. Having to leave....... The stairs!. Would have preferred a room on the first floor . contract workers in next room. Stairs. Got a bit noisy in the evening, but but just nit picking. came in at midnight to a very cold room with no heating on. bathrooms could do with an update (only because I work in the plumbing industry). Heating came on late in room. nothing. The most awful music played non-stop in the bar so that it was quite impossible to sit and enjoy the excellent beer. Not too loud - just plain ghastly. bathroom in rm 9 need refurbishing. nothing. Bedroom a bit jaded. Beer selection very limited (2 Wadworth beers-not a great brewery these days). Breakfast chaotic, but I think they were short staffed, so perhaps an unfair criticism. Floor a bit uneven, shower very poor - just a hose attached to the bath tap with a broken fitting above. Bathroom inadequately ventilated. The room was very tired and dated with cracks on the wall, a bathroom shelf missing and lining paper peeling from the walls. The access to the parking is via the rear of the premises which currently means climbing an undropped kerb. Not suitable for many sports cars or alloy rims!. Ensuite bathroom grubby. As I was working away on business being a tradesman , wanting to get on the open road just like three other guest ,the chef in the kitchen was in a misrable bad mood , because he had to cook at 7.30am which I dont think is too unreasonable to ask for, best regards William Fox c/o Universal Container Services Ltd. Devizes Market Place is very noisy on a Saturday night. Some rooms very small for the price. The beer was badly kept. They charged our credit card with the whole of the fees on booking, three months before we stayed. Our room opposite a taxi rank, did not know this, hordes of late night drinkers, didn't get to sleep until 4.30am. Staff not friendly. No air con. Car park difficult to find. Very noisy Room too hot and asked for a fan but none to be offered. Rude staff, damp mouldy bedroom and en-suite as big as a shoe box. outdated decor, walked through the back way, even though phoned before to say we would be checking in late this wasn't well accepted, small room, bathroom smelled of smoke. No heating in any of our rooms throught the week it was reported to staff and still not switched on I latter spoke to the owner/manager/cook/barman the one person who performs all these duties who whom then had some attitude about the heating issue I would recomend anyone to book this hotel tom m. Dirty sheets and terrible beds didn't get the stay off to a great start. We were told breakfast would start at 7.30 AM when we went down the place was in complete darkness and there was no one cooking. would never stop here again. Nothing good to say about the Black Swan. Bad room, awful shower, not clean, etc. There was no hot water for a shower, no remote control for the freeview box so couldn't even watch t.v The standard of the room and especially the en suite was very poor!! Very overpriced for what you get. Everything about the trip was appauling. The staff seemed to have no respect for those trying to sleep and continued to make noise and play music until 1am, the room was not clean and the breakfast was poor. Will not be staying here again. Poor value for money!.
