The staff were helpful and friendly. We have arrived late with a small baby without reservation of a table for a dinner. They accommodated us in a beautiful private dining room. The spa facilities are great. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful countryside and it is within walking distance to the village. There is nothing not to like.about this Historic Hotel. The staff were excellent and very helpful and the room and spa exceeded our expectations.. The spa is a extremely high standard, contemporary, well equiped and very clean.. Lovely view of the South downs from our room. We will be back Alex St Albans.

The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful. The spa was a wonderfully relaxing experience in an amazing building. I adored the way we were dealt with. The male and female workers throughout the hotel were really welcoming, and smiled, which was so charming. We didn't have a chance to test out the spa, but that was not your fault!!. Friendly comfortable accommodation with character and charm. A better alternative for Gatwick Airport than an airport hotel. Very good restaurant and spa facilities which I failed to make use of. I loved the whole experience, Edward Room was lovely, the food absolutely delicious, the staff friendly and helpful and the swimming pool in the spa was wonderful. I could not fault any of it. The spa was a delight and well worth the hotel stay just so the facilities can be used. Very luxurious. The hotel itself was lovely and had old world charm, warm and very relaxed. staff were polite, attentative and well presented both at the hotel and at the spa. My wife is heavely pregnant, all our needs were addressed and accommodated for. Very good service - staff were very helpful and attentive throughout. Lovely location - very handy to be able to walk into the village. Spa was amazing as were the treatments - pricey but worth it. Room lovely and comfy, food good - only had breakfast, location great. It was fabulous. Excellent Breakfast. One of the two rooms was cold and felt musty. The rooms need an upgrade. There was nothing I didn't like. The stairs, as I am disabled and find climbing stairs difficult. We were on the 4th floor, which was a struggle for me, and I have suffered for it since. However, it also taught me a lesson - to speak out more clearly so there can be no error in the future!. Room on the second floor with no lifts and a heavy suitcase. They did, to be fair, offer assistance but that seemed inappropriate. There was nothing not to like. The evening meal was not up to the standard we expected. The main course actually tasted horrible but the dessert was delicious. It was trying too hard to be an unusual mixture of different tastes and just ended up being a let down. The menu was a limited choice of overly unusual dishes. Breakfast was good. n/a. We felt it was overpriced both in terms of the dinner and the spa treatments. We were surprised to be charged extra for coffee after a set meal priced at £54 - it didn't feel like value for money, although the silver service was an unexpected pleasure. Main house a bit run down Staff not really welcoming, other guests having issues, most of the dining staff were average (service/knowledge). No iron and ironing board in room Problems with wifi signal strength. Bathroom needs a little freshening up, e.g. the shower curtain was a little musty smelling. Small bed. Bedroom rather small and bathroom cramp. Beds too soft Disappointed with breakfast - not the same standard as dinner. Fan could have been provided as was very hot Could too with some TLC - as parts looking a bit tired (windowsills from outside). the equipment and facilities in the rooms are too old and partly not working: windows, wardrobe, cupboard, curtain etc. low ceilings; tow expensive for too little comfort. Patio doors would not open. Staff could not repair. so could not use outside facilities.
