I stayed overnight at the Wellington Hotel whilst hiking on the coastal path. The location of the hotel is excellent as it is right in the very picturesque village of Boscastle. The coast path practically runs through the hotel! The Wellington Hotel is a gorgeous old building. However, the rooms have been kept nicely up-to-date. I had a great evening meal in the bar, and the included breakfast was excellent (with lots of choices).

The 4 window aspect was amazing, well worth paying that little bit extra for turret rooms 1st/2nd floor,comfortable bed, luxurious bedding, Eco toileteries, happy friendly staff, great food. This hotel is a must visit/stay if you need to relax and unwind. The location was beautiful. We received a warm and friendly welcome and the receptionist on duty couldnt do enough to make us comfortable. We ate in the bar as well as having breakfast and the food was excelent as well as the service. We will definitely recommend the hotel to friends and plan a return journey. A really charming and lovely room (and hotel) with a wonderful historical atmosphere all around it. Really good food in the cozy pub. A welcoming and helpful staff. We loved everything about the hotel. The town of Boscastle is very cozy and beatiful - and the sunset near the cliffs at the harbour was amazing. Loved the old building, the breakfast was very nice and the breakfast room was opulent. There was a guest lounge which was very tastefully decorated and the hotel was walking distance to everything. Our meal in the bar area was excellent. Our room was a good size and was very clean. It was a really delightful hotel. Very comfortable with every facility. We took our dog with us and he was made welcome too. All the staff were very friendly and made us feel at home. We ate a full breakfast every day which was lovely . . We were delighted to find that we had been upgraded to a beautiful turret room. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We had a huge bed and a lovely quiet and comfortable nights sleep! The location so close to the sea and harbour was perfect and very convenient for walking. The architecture of the building and the feeling of it being a traditional quality hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent bar with the additional treat of a 'singing night'. The central location. On sight parking. Beautiful location,good hotel. A lovely location near the harbour in the little village of Boscastle. The staff are very helpful and friendly and we felt very much "at home" staying there. Super breakfasts. Several good eating options very close by. I liked being upgraded to a double room/bed. It was nice and quiet except roaring cars but you get them everywhere. Nice pint of well kept Cornish beer. Lovely porridge and creamy hollandaise sauce on haddock. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially the waitress serving breakfast. Rooms were clean and shower, though occasionally varying in temperature was powerful enough. Wifi was very good. The staff were very friendly. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Much nicer than a certain 5 star hotel in York, and more value for money!! Would definitely recommend staying at the Wellington. All the staff were very friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble, the food is excellent and the surroundings very relaxing. The lounge with the log fire is very inviting in the winter. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. We stayed in superior double, spacious and comfortable. Food was superb and surrounding Boscastle village is lovely with spectacular scenery. The historic atmospheric, beautifully renovated building, good service, fine food, free parking, location by Boscastle Harbour, associations with famous visitors (e.g. Thomas Hardy). Staff were fantasic, very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Te room was lovely, clean , spacious and comfortable. An excellent hotel that I wouldn't hesitate to stay at again. The staff, the location, the facilities, are all truly excellent. The food is wonderful. Best hotel that we have ever stayed in, by a mile. Most definitely would stay there again. V friendly staff. Lovely and clean. Food in the bar was excellent pub food. This was a return visit after fourty years,we enjoyed every minute of it. Nothing!. Not having more time to spend in this beautiful setting. Our room was slightly noisey from banging doors - we assumed by guests returning home late and using the side door. ..That we only were there for one night!. The only thing my partner didn't like was the fact there was no lift as he is in his eighties and found the stairs tiring. We understand as its a Grade II listed building a lift can't be fitted. It didn't spoil our holiday though. Nothing!. To be honest there wasnt much I could fault with the hotel or the location but although the food was very good, would have been good if they had a bar menu that differed from the restaurant so add a bit of variety. The restaurant food is over fancy and the Bar food limited and not substantial enough as an evening option. There seems to be poor communication between management and staff who are not really sure who is in charge. Management do not interface with customers enough. Sausage skins were tough to eat (evening meal in bar). I left a comment about shower. Difficult to keep fresh milk in room afternoon and before breakfast hot drink. Need fridge or thermos or flask. I had to put jug out on window ledge. Nothing. The room we had, could have done with a little updating and more consistency as regards style of the bedroom furniture. This is only a really minor negative. Can't think of anything. Nothing!. Somewhat thin walls in the room I had (but then it is an old building and it wasn't one of the allegedly haunted rooms!). Nothing. Nothing. Our big bathroom had the tiniest shower I have ever come across! Very strange. The posh restaurant was nearly empty so little atmosphere and the menu not very inviting. very poor mobile reception although not the hotels issue. Had to fight for a parking space outside the hotel, but really not a big problem as we unloaded the cases and parked in cheap ncp 2 mins away. Also reception offered for kitchen staff to move their vehicles to allow us to park. Staff very helpful indeed. nothing. Although the food was good the breakfast on the third day was cold. Wifi was intermittent - verging on non existent. Cheap nasty plastic toilet seat. Over enthusiastic cleaners being noisy outside door and hovering when still 2 hours until checkout. Whats not to like. Didn't get to see one of the ghosts :). The hangover on the Saturday morning having spent too much time relaxing after hours on the Friday evening with the staff :>). Nothing negative to say at all. We noticed that many eateries promote their Sunday roasts, consequently being Easter everywhere was booked out, we noticed the Wellington special that day happened to be a beef roast dinner, it was gorgeous! Maybe promote it on a Sunday as a regular thing rather than a tucked away special?. The noise from other guests and hotel patrons kept us awake until late. Room was very small. Wi-Fi didn't work on last day. Limited menu in the Waterloo Restaurant. Intermittent Wifi connection. rock hard 'al dente' veg. No phone signal for 3 days!!!. A very minor quibble was the noise in our room, from the kitchen extraction equipment 'til about eleven pm.
