Set in a Gothic mansion, YHA Ilam Hall has 84 acres of beautiful parkland, a traditional restaurant and stylish lounge. The YHA is situated in the Peak District, and offers views over Dovedale. The YHA Ilam Hall has dormitory rooms, most containing bunk beds, with shared bathroom facilities. The magnificent Victorian building also houses a sumptuous lounge with a TV, games area and Wi-Fi access. The on-site restaurant serves traditional evening meals and light lunches. The cafe-bar offers light snacks and beverages, and there is also a kitchen for self-catering guests. YHA Ilam Hall Hostel is a National Trust property, and the River Manifold runs through the beautiful grounds. Alton Towers is a 15-minute drive away, and Chatsworth House is a 30-minute drive.

A beautiful location and as it was over 20years ago that I last visited I was suitably impressed with the services and the friendly and helpful staff. What a pity I left it so long between visits. Beautiful building in a stunning setting., The staff are very friendly and the meals are good value. Rooms are comfortable. Hostelling has certainly changed for the better!. It was such a friendly place and very comfortable and relaxed. A great place to unwind and not at all like youth hostels used to be, more like a relaxing hotel!.

Location is absolutly beautiful and surrounding area is nice too. shame there was no food or mobile network availble. Great location just inside the national park with good walks close-by. Installed in a beautiful heritage building. Price was good for the area, friendly like mind people, both guests and staff. The booking was en suite and we didnt get one as they cant guarantee that unless the booking is through their own site. Only quarms we had was room was very small for 3 big teenagers and an adult, but won't put us off coming again.Value for money and we only wanted one decent nights sleep rather than going camping,which we usually do on our yearly trip to alton twrs,. Nothing atall. There is a strong smell going down to the catering kitchen which is rather off putting. o No mobile phone signal and Wifi only works in bar area. Breakfast finished too early at 9:00a.m sharp. Only had the unhealthy option on eggs - fried!. Sometimes a little noisy at night with other guests wondering around but nothing you wouldn't expect from any hotel or hostel. Going home. The hostel stank of toilet cleaner /very overpowering/though it was clean but off puting. Lack of car parking. There was no food to eat so we stayed hungray for whole night. no mobile reciption and the hotel is too deep in wild that no cab driver wanted to come there. No free parking (overnight parking 4 £). Food quite average. Laundry did't apparently work, staff was not really helpful indeed. None. as expected. I some areas I would have expected simple B&B with my own room for the price. the shower was poor and we had an en-suite which stank. Poor kitchen facilities - none of the fan ovens and one of the conventional ovens didn't work. Stench in the public kitchen.
