Many features: Location, View of the Bosphorus, the architecture, the garden, the comfort, the 17th floor lounge, etc. etc. all deserving each and every one of the five stars. - Hotel Staff very professional and helpful. Rooms are very clean and very comfortable.

The history: Agatha Christie wrote her [Murder on the Orient Express] at
this hotel. There is a small exhibition area on the fourth floor about
this and other historic moments. The elevator from 1895 can still run
(though not always in use). They sell postcards and other souvenirs

A classic hotel, which I've used twice before, in 1995 & 2005, before its recent refurbishment. It's now three times the price, but the grandeur is no longer faded, it's now a true 5-star place. And I'm delighted to say that the refurb hasn't spoilt its character at all, as this is a hotel with more character and history than most! Staff were great, we got a room upgrade, and an extra hour extended checkout wasn't a problem. If we return to Istanbul, it'll be the Pera Palas for us!
